Falling in love with cities is risky.
They’ll welcome you with spectacular sunsets and stunning skyscrapers and a skyline that lights up the whole sky. But when they’re angry, they will burn themselves down to fuel a riot that’d run loose on their streets. They will remind you that if you love a city with its lights on, you will have to love it even when it is on fire.
i want to travel more. and out of a thousand
other reasons, i want to travel to be homesick. I want to be on another land yearning for the food of my hometown, for the warm and aromatic chai my grandmother makes, for the pink bougainvillea that stands firmly on the lawn of our house. i want to travel to be away from home so that i can return, loving it as much as it deserves to be loved. i want to go away from home just for returning back here to realize everything i have ever neglected is worth loving and worrying for.

will want to fall in love with me
i have been a sky all my life
full of life and light and anger
if you're not coming with
thunderstorms; do not come
Yesterday I was the moon is a collection of poetry written by Noor Unhar, a Pakistani author. I have been following Noor on instagram for a while, and this I was very excited when she released her first book. I finished the book in one sitting and read it again. There are parts of the book, which are just relatable, .
"Nothing teaches better
than this trio
the fears, the tears, the years"
The book does not revolve around a particular theme, rather it covers the art, home, society, courage, strength, acceptance and culture. The books is cute and filled with illustrations and poems, which makes it more personal, and almost like a journal.
The words are simple yet effective. The book gives all the hope and it ends on a very beautiful note. Strongly recommended, if you are a poetry lover.
. "Every single dream you've pushed into the ocean,
praying that it dies and leaves you alone,
the water carries them; breathing and alive
you left them to wither but their pieces wither in you,
dreams live as long as the dreamers do!" .
I have been an avid fan of her work from Tumblr to Instagram and to have her poetry in book form is such a delightful treat. Yesterday I Was the Moon is like listening to a dear friend or reading your inner most thoughts come to life on paper. Her words and images are intimate and welcoming and there is something for everyone to take away; she expresses her thoughts of her faith, her passions, her immense sense of pride of her homeland - thoughts and feeling that we can all relate to.
Definitely add this to your collection of poetry anthologies. You will not be disappointed!
I'm such a massive fan of Noor's work - the visuals that accompany her poetry are just so beautiful. If you're unsure whether you want this book, look at her Instagram @noor_unnahar and I'm sure it will convince you that you need to have it!
The book arrived in good condition & on time :)
The best part is:
It is art and
It is alive .
It is a must read for those who are deeper than most and those who feel misunderstood . 😁😁
When you're feeling down and are filled with hopelessness, anger, sorrow or any negative emotion and want to experience the calm of the sea, moonlight and twinkling stars or just want to perceive things from a different perspective THIS IS THE BOOK.
