"immensely enjoyable"—ForeWord Clarion Reviews

"for children who enjoy lingering over pages full of magical creatures and whimsical details [...] told in simple and engaging words and imaginative pictures.”—Kirkus Reviews

"a fantastic book that has enchanted me"—Amazon Customer Review

"We are in love with this book! [...] As an artist, I love love LOVE the art in this book, I think its not only beautiful, but perfect for children. My son spent a lot of time just studying every colorful page. We read it twice in the first sitting because he was so happy! He's not yet 1, so getting him to sit still for story time is tough, and this book was such a hit he sat through it with nothing but a big smile and lots of pointing to the stuff he liked on the pages. I highly recommend this book :) Get it get it get it!""—Amazon Customer Review

"Written in a very simple way but with a profound message for both adults and kids."—Amazon Customer Review

"I LOVED it. Lots of repetition to help 'lil ones get used to structure and words! Many different words being used to help them improve their vocabulary (or pick the best word!). Most importantly, it sends a good message about how being unique and different is good. I STRONGLY suggest you check this book out!"—ESLCarissa.blogspot.com

"readers will emerge from this book feeling slightly more confident about themselves—whatever their size."—ForeWord Clarion Reviews

HASH(0xba144648) out of 5 stars A Wonderful Book 9 February 2015
By capegirlnoshoes - Published on Amazon.com
I have the Hindi-only edition of this book and it is perhaps my second favourite Hindi children's book. The illustrations are absolutely amazing - kids will love to look at them for ages and find all the strange creatures lurking in the details. The Hindi is simple and repetitive and when there are conjunct consonants, in the first instance of the word the consonants are written separately and then from then on the conjunct is used (good because otherwise I would've been stumped by "kshm").
The message is great (particularly if your kid is small...). Tamiya is at first the epitome of confidence but when the narrator tells us that she is very small, she is shocked and goes around asking everyone if she is small. The big things she asks (e.g. the Moon!) tell her how small she is, but the small things she asks (e.g. a ladybird) tell her how big she is. She eventually works out that actually she is EVERYTHING, she is small and big and everything in between. And she is absolutely just right! The creatures she has asked all agree.
My only niggle is that the font size varies depending on who is speaking and sometimes it is just too small (particularly for grandparents to read to kids). Also in a couple of cases the word layout is irrational, leading you to read the wrong sentence first.
Like all children's books, this is also great for adult learners of Hindi or English.

This is an enjoyable, cute book using the various words for small and large to allow a little girl to understand her place and I guess "size" in the world. I enjoy reading it a lot. It doesn't teach you a ton of Hindi vocabulary words as phrases are just repeated with a word or two changed but it is very enjoyable. Great for the preschool set!
