Product Description

FROM THE AUTHOR OF NO.1 BESTSELLING TRAVEL COMEDY 'THAT BEAR ATE MY PANTS!'

Tony James Slater is quite possibly the world’s worst traveller.
And yet, he’s thinking of doing it for a living…

Faced with buying a car and getting a real job – or taking the money and blowing it on a six-month adventure around Asia… well, there really is no contest!

Who wouldn’t want to visit exotic places, like Borneo, Cambodia and China? Who wouldn’t want to tackle the world’s most dangerous hiking path, tangle with the Vietnamese Mafia, and suffer days in the dreaded Mongolian saddle…?
And who wouldn’t want to try five-organ soup?

All he has to do is survive long enough to realise his dreams.
His rainbow-haired wife, Roo, is determined to keep him in one piece – but he’s not going to make it easy.
Six months around Asia will make-or-break them…
Literally.

Join Tony and Roo on an epic journey through the weirdest and most wonderful things the continent can offer. Share their hopes and fears as they battle the wildlife, the elements, and the laws of probability to explore six fascinating and exotic countries.
Together, they will prove one of the cardinal rules of travel: that nothing ever goes according to plan.
Especially when you don’t have one.

Full of mischief and mayhem, this hilarious adventure is one you definitely don’t want to miss.
One thing’s for sure; it ain’t no holiday!

This is a comedy travel memoir, covering Borneo, Vietnam, Mongolia, China, Laos and Cambodia.

I've read all of Tony James Slater's travel books and loved them all. This was no exception. Hilarious as always. I felt exhausted afterwards as there were so many hairy and scary adventures. I particularly enjoyed reading about his wife Roo in this one to see how she handled all the weird and wonderful things that happen on a Tony adventure. Of course, she was a real trooper. Roo is also responsible for many of the glorious photographs that you access on their website via a link at the end of each section on each country they visited. I'm just sad the book is finished and I have to wait for their next adventures.

Awesome book! The writer is developing into a serious travel writer, engaging his reader on every page. If I was a writer, I'd write a better review! Just READ IT!!

I have just finished reading this hilarious book of Tony and Roo's equally hilarious escapades!!!! Having been to some of these countries myself, I could relate to it even more. Though in saying this, I wouldn't like to be the one travelling WITH him!!!!!! It would make for a very "interesting" time and Roo is a very special person to be able to cope with it. Congratulations on such a wonderful book.

I really enjoyed this book. There were only 2 sentences I really didn't want to read and would have liked a 'Warning- Graphic Sentence' note ahead of them. As for the rest of the book. Loved it. I seem to be reading these books backwards. Newest to oldest, and they're all great. I find it hard to find books I like as I don't read fiction but I find Tony's books thoroughly enjoyable.

I loved this book. Having spent a bit of time in Ha Noi, those chapters brought back wonderful memories and had me telling my Kindle, "I know that place he's talking about!! I've been to that place, too! Yes, I totally remember that!" My Kindle didn't care, though. Great nostalgia for me but even without that it was a hilarious and interesting read.

Really loved this book and have recommended it to friends who have either just been or about to go to one of the countries visited. Also told my travel agent about it and she purchased 'That Bear Ate My Pants as well'. The fact that nothing much actually goes according to plan definitely makes it 'not just another travel book', and never boring.

I have read all of Tony's books so far and enjoyed this hilarious romp as much as the others. Tony and Roo have a knack of getting themselves into the worst situations but always manage to get themselves out with a great and funny story to tell, can't wait to hear about the great U S of A next, guaranteed to be a ripper. Keep them coming mate.
