I really enjoyed reading this book. It tells the story of an unrequited love between a woman and a man during the apartheid years of South Africa. Set in Johannesburg and the Cape, it illustrates how the politics of the time damaged lives emotionally as well as physically. It is written like a long poem. Different readers will extract different messages from the symbols and metaphors of The Rock.
