I wasn't aware that Wilbur Smith had handed the reins to Barbara Cartland. Apart from a few brief action sequences (pallidly described without any of the usual verve) this book is more romantic fiction than the adventure-driven page turners we've loved. And the cynicism of a "to be continued" ending. Sad.
