Don't waste your money on migrating to this camera.
I thought it was time to migrate from my Nikon D850 DSLR to mirrorless and chose the Z7ii (instead of the top of the range Z9 because I did not want the bulk and weight). I wanted a smaller, silent camera for ease of travel to replace the D850, but shoot at the same megapixel range.
What a disappointment after thousands of $$$ for the Z7ii body and several lenses to go with it, hoping that 'the next one' would do better! Only it did not.
There simply is not the detail on a pixel level in shots from the Z7ii. For general shots my mirrorless, full frame Canon EOS M3 did better and cost less than $1000 for the body and 2 lenses 5 years ago. Without any expectations I can even do better with my Google Pixel 7Pro phone for many images. One would think that a company like Nikon would outshine all phones and most other cameras with their knowhow and technology. I've been using Nikon since the F1 and Nikkormat ELW in the late 1970s and into the 80s which to this day offer far better resolution and tonal range in scanned 35mm 400ASA black and white negatives, something digital cameras have never matched.
I shoot landscapes, little things and aircraft. The images included here were shot on the Z7ii and D850 using the same lenses on both cameras.
You decide... I don't think a few whizzbang digital gadgetries in the rear screen, which is not expensive to add to electronic devices these days, warrant the incredible price of the Z7ii when everything else is pretty mundane.
