I thoroughly enjoyed this book and thought it was a fun, charming and exciting read. It was a lovely story that whisked me away into magical meet-cutes and Hollywood fairytales.
Straight off the bat I loved Christian Slade. I thought he was charming and an absolute sweetheart. He made me laugh with his matter of fact ways and how he handled his fame sometimes. There are moments when you'd think he should be coming across obnoxious like when he white-lies when trying to live a normal life and does crazy things to try and keep his identity under wraps (like swapping his Ferrari for a Tesla) but honestly he just comes across endearing and funny. I smiled and giggled so much and loved his banter with his personal assistant and how she just accepted his ways. There really was just something so sweet and lovely about him that I enjoyed. He worked hard for his money, loved acting and wasn't just in it to be famous and I thought that was very cool.
Lana I thought was awesome too. I envied her smarts and thoroughly loved reading about her job as a scientist. She had such a down to earth sweet nature, but I loved that Christian bought her to life, made her have fun and step out of her comfort zone a little bit, while still remaining true to who she was.
I very much enjoyed that Christian and Lana were with each other through the good and bad. They accepted each other for who they were and I liked that they both owned up to their mistakes and didn't just blame each other. They fought for each other and worked on making their different lifestyles fit together which was beautiful too. Their banter and adventure was so much fun to be a part of.
There's a delightful element of glitz and glamour mixed in with the coziness of settling down and living a more peaceful life which makes 'To the Stars and Back' such a wonderful read.
Love Camille's writing style - pretty much read all her books in a few weeks time span. This series is adorable, and hooks you in. Love the interwoven character connections between the series. Definitely recommend giving this author a read!!
I like how we as readers find new development of the series characters. Each book is individually great on their own as well as being read as a series. I appreciate how the characters have depth. Christian Slade , the movie star, doesn't have a clue about women in this romance, at least not about Lana. His view point changes as he learns who she really is and what is important to her. I received this book from ARC for free. My review is voluntary and honest.
I really liked this book. I already knew how the whole thing was going to go just from reading the synopsis, there’s nothing really new about this plot. Two people meet, fall in love, he’s hiding a big secret and when she finds out things start to go downhill. But there is a happily ever after with these two very delightful protagonists. I really enjoyed the story, it was very romantic, A little bit of sex and no cussing. I’m planning to read all of her books.
Another funny, touching addition to the series, it can be read alone - the the previous books are too good to pass up, and those characters show up, especially near the end, so it is helpful to have the background.
This was a much better read than I expected. I was prepared for lite fare - cute people, cute plots, etc. This was so much more. I love Me. Isleys style, characters, plotting and twists. She has found a great way to mix fun with substance. Her "princess" story featured an unusual matching of characters and careers along with a very clear environmental message. I love a romance designed for readers with intelligence.
