Budget Full Frame camera

This offering from Nikon is great!! This camera is 24 MP Full frame and will only fit Nikon Z mount lenses unless you have the FTZ adapter. Many cameras now feature high end filming capability, but not wanting to store Petabytes of information, I’m into shooting “Stills” , that is arguably much more efficient. This camera is perfect for that. I have the Nikon 24-70 F4 S lens mounted on my copy and image quality is superb. The camera also has a focus creep facility for those interested in “focus stack” photography where everything is in focus. As Nikon’s cheapest entry into Full Frame photography this thing is a blast and well worth your consideration!! Cheers

Flippy Screen doesn't work properly

The flippy touch screen doesn't work properly. When you flip it up, it black out and will only resume normally when you move your camera or push it back. It's very annoying and doesn't make sense.

Probably a deficit?

Great introduction to mirrorless and full frame

Found a great deal on the Z5 with the 24-200mm lens so decided to dip my toe into both full frame and mirrorless at the same time and upgrade my old Nikon D3100.

Great upgrade from my introductory DSLR. The AF system is a significant step up on the 11-point AF system on the D3100. The eye-detect AF also works great, but the animal AF is a bit hit and miss with my dog, which has a dark mask around its face so the eyes are hard to pick up for the camera. I mostly use single point AF or dynamic AF modes for my shooting though so it hasn't been an issue.

I have been immensely impressed with the camera so far and will pair the kit with the Nikkor 85mm 1.8 S (which I recently picked up) and Nikkor 35mm 1.8S to make a great travel kit.

I've been really impressed with the Z5 and I'm excited to see how Nikon further develops its Z system.

Came from a d750. z5 AF was terrible until the firmware 1.41 and that was a night and day difference AF is now surprisingly good. Having owned a z6, A7rIII, eos R and R5, S5 the AF performance is below the R5 but a little better than the EOS R now.

The colors are fantastic, nikon has always had the best colors. I find the colors of the z5 to be better than the z6, which despite claiming superior BSI tech I actually prefer the files from the z5 throughout the ISO range.

Fantastic camera especially now with new firmware it's worth a buy, best looking raw files out of box color wise of all the Z cameras IMO. It was going to be this or the Zf, and Zf was double the price, z5 has better ergos and grip so went the z5 and the rest can go towards some nice glass!

The camera and lens are both excellent bits of kit, from mechanical, optical, and electronics points of view. However, this is not a camera for amateurs, you really have to know your way around cameras and electronics to get the best from this camera. It does have an "Auto" selection, which will get you good photos most times, but not all the time. The one thing it cannot do, which I miss, is that it cannot date/time stamp your photos. My old camera could do this.

A NIKON Z5, what can I say :) it is what it is came in VERY promptly on a Sunday morning! The body, the lens, the battery, battery charger with the cable, USB cable, and the strap...warranty card for the body and lens, User's Manual, while the body cap and eyecup are already on the body. A great upgrade from my D3400, very different though familiar as they are under the same NIKON family. Happy with my choice, happy with the camera and lens, happy that I decided to stay with NIKON :)

The build quality is much better than I though! This is the second Nikon camera I bought and is way lighter than the old DSLR.
