Phenomenal sound but unfortunate circumstances
Reviewed in Australia on 6 August 2021
I got these earphones (CX400BT) around 2 months ago. When I first put them in, I almost cried due to how clear the sound quality was. I have never listened to earphones which sound this good. The sound profile is very neutral, so there is no emphasis on bass, mids or treble. Everything is flat, which means the music you listen to will sound almost exactly like how they audio engineers wanted their songs to sound. They were very comfortable, and battery life was DECENT (not great). The case felt premium and the passive noise cancellation was very good as they fit snug in the ear.
However, two issues, one minor and one major. From the get go, they had a quite noticeable "hissing" sound when volume is off or low. From my research I understand that this is normal with these earphones, however it can be quite irritating if you're not used to it, especially since my CX Sport earphones don't have the same issue. The major issue is that after two months of use, my right earphone completely stopped working. I tried factory resetting them and nothing worked so unfortunately had to return them. A very unfortunate outcome for a phenomenal pair of earphones. And I bought them at 150 and now they aren't really selling them anymore, instead selling the 2021 CX wireless for 200, so I will have to buy other earphones as this is over my budget. Really wish Sennhesier would have replaced my CX400BT.
