The story line was fine but the constant use of “cor blimey “ really grated on me , we don’t use it much in the UK and characters in this book they definitely would not use it at all. There seemed to be a “cor blimey” on every page !
Shiver Shiver by Heather Slade is the epitome of a romantic suspense novel that is clean. There is some mild language but I would rate the book PG. It is a love story, a whodunit and a HEA fairy tale ending. Shiver and Orina had a romantic history but reluctantly separated due to the dangers related to their work as government agents, his to British Intelligence and hers as a Russian assassin. This author weaves an edge of your seat plot with interesting characters, riveting (pun intended! LOL) action and dialog. Do yourself a favor. Get this book on your Kindle or pick up the paperback for your personal library. You will enjoy the ride!
Wilder This is the story of Wilder, a British intelligence officer, and Wren, an American government agent associated with national security. The Americans want to extradite a British citizen on the grounds of domestic terrorism. While they are on opposite sides in the extradition issue, both Wilder and Wren cannot deny their attraction to each other. As things heat up between Wilder and Wren, secrets will sorely test their relationship. This book is a fabulous view into the world of espionage. The author incorporates the whodunit genre with some steamy romantic scenes. While this is a stand-alone novel, I recommend that a reader pick up the book Shiver for enhanced enjoyment.
Pinch Heather Slade has become one of my favorite authors. She combines the right amount of romance and suspense for her readers, with very strong and unique plots for each book in her series. This novel is about Axel, an MI5 agent also known as Pinch, and Esland, a writer for The Times newspaper. It seems that Esland has discovered some information regarding her parents' fatal "accident" more than a decade ago. When her apartment is been broken into, she asks for Axel's help where he discovers a dead body. As information becomes available, the past collides with the present and Esland's life is in danger from an unknown source. The author leads the reader through a twisted tale until the baddies are revealed and an HEA ending achieved. Excellent and satisfying story.
Shadow Shadow is the story of Darrow, the sister of Shiver and Wilder, and Quint, the brother of Wren and son of Z. All of these characters, except Quint, are or were in the British intelligence agency. Quint is the owner of a huge ranch in Texas where he meets Darrow who comes to visit Wren. There is strong chemistry between Quint and Darrow but it seems their lives or on different paths. He is a rancher with strong ties to the land and she wants to be a part of the intelligence community. This book parallels the book Pinch. The storyline in each book covers some of the same events, Pinch follows Axel's story and Shadow follows Darrow. Although the timeframe and some of the plot coincide, this is a different story with an exciting ending. The author writes a cohesive story with suspense thrown in and Shadow follows this pattern. The characters are fleshed out and I felt like the proverbial fly on the wall as I read this book. This is another 5-star romance from a terrific writer. Heather Slade ties up all loose ends and delivers a satisfying HEA ending. One caveat: although this is a stand-alone story, one should read these books in order as many of these characters cross over into other books in this series.
“Shiver” is about a woman on the run. Orina is hiding from Shiver because she has a secret. What is so terrible that she must be on the run, hiding from the man she loves? There will be twists you won’t see coming.
“Wilder” is about military intelligence and secret agents. Wren is there to help extradite someone to the United States, but when it comes to secret ops, you just never know what you will find. Nothing and no one are ever what or who they seem. One thing is certain, the attraction between Wilder and Wren is epic. Can they act on this attraction, and will they survive those who would do them harm? It’s a deadly game they play. If you like stories with romance and action that keep you on the edge of your seat, you will enjoy this story.
“Pinch” is about deadly secrets. Pinch is a player. Will Esland be the woman that tames him? He thought she was an annoying pest, and when he carried her out of the bar, he had no idea she would come back with a look of terror on her face, asking for his help. Just exactly, who vandalized her apartment, and whose dead body was lying there? Esland is an investigative reporter, and she is uncovering secrets that could get her killed. What happens when Pinch decides to protect her? Once he gets to know her, will he still think she is an annoying pest? Perhaps, she is a thief that steals his heart. There is just one problem. Her best friend was in a relationship with him once upon a time. Will Esland be able to keep both her friend and her guy?
“Shadow” is about a woman following her dream. Darrow always dreamed of serving with MI6, just like her brothers. Living on a ranch in America won’t help her fulfill that dream. Is it possible for Darrow to get the training she needs and to be with the man she craves? Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen, a twist of fate changes everything.
If you like stories with romance, suspense, and secret agents, you might enjoy this box set. I loved it and look forward to what Heather Slade writes next.
All the books are stand alones, but part of the series and I feel you get more goodness just reading the whole series, pretty much guarantee you'll want to anyway. Each read has it's own uniqueness in storyline. The mains and their romantic journeys, the riveting events filled with suspense and intrigue, that twisty plot for each, to keep you flippin' the pages, that Ms. Slade is so very good at. Plus, put on your best British accent for these hot, alpha males, OR females, who find their HEAs, whether they're ready or not. Love the appearances of my old favorites from K19 and Butler Ranch series, popping up here and there. Recommended Reading! Book One: Shiver and Orina. Book Two: Wilder and Wren Book Three: Pinch and Esland Book Four: Shadow and Quint
MI15, MI16 and K19 have a teamed up again in fast paced storylines. Long standing American family ties to an aristocratic British family in Her Majesty' s service is central to each of the four books which follow the lives of the named principal characters. There is murder, kidnapping, post cold war intrigue, treachery, romance and numerous twists and turns along the way.
