Lies and Lullabies is the story of Jonas and Kira, a second-chance, friends to lovers romance that combines sweetness and steam with a small-town girl and a rockstar. Except Kira didn’t know Jonas was a rockstar when they met in Maine one summer 5 years ago, and their one night together would prove to be life-changing for them both. • Sarina Bowen can write romance; smiling and swoony and sexy romance and this first book in the Hush Notes series is no exception! Readers can see how Kira fell for Jonas during their summer together, as Kira was just the friend Jonas needed during this time in his life. Both young and ready to embark on life’s adventures, neither knew exactly what the future held for them. • Fast forward 5 years and Jonas returns to the Maine town he fell in love with and the girl who captured his heart, the one he can’t forget about, despite fame and fortune and the rockstar lifestyle he now leads. • Kira is surprised to see Jonas back in her small-town, despite trying her hardest to track him down all those years ago, and she can’t quite believe he’s still the same man he was before stardom hit. This time round though, things have certainly changed. • Lies and Lullabies is a wonderful heartwarming romance, rich with family dynamics and a hugely famous rock band who have their own hidden burdens. The relationship between Kira and Jonas is easy and low angst, despite their years apart and a surprise pregnancy that Jonas knew nothing about. Sexy and sweet and determined to be back in Kira’s life, Jonas recognises the need for family and love and at the core of it all that’s what this book is about. Add in the other band members - Quinn and Nixon, a gorgeous little girl who will steal your heart and Kira’s brother Adam, her rock, who may have his own little romance going on, and you have the 5 star read that is Lies and Lullabies. I can't wait to read the next two books in the Hush Notes series by Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros, who have written Quinn and Nixon’s story’s. • Thank you to the author for the copy of this book I received. This is an honest review and all opinions are my own.
Sarina is one of my top 5 favourite authors so when I heard that she was writing a rockstar romance I got super excited! I really love rockstar romances and anything Sarina writes so this was the best of two worlds for me!
Lies & Lullabies is the first instalment in the Hush Notes series which is about a band. Each book is a rockstar romance about each band member written by a different author. This was a great kick off to the series!
I really loved this mix or rockstar, small town, second chance and baby daddy romance! I really loved the story and all of the characters, even the secondary characters! Vivi, Ethan, Adam and the other band members added such a great mix to the story.
I fell in love with Jonas and Kira right from the start and I was so excited to continue to read to find out where their story would end. They both have regrets after they first met 5 years ago as they were both going through a hard time but they found solace in each other until Jonas had to leave. 5 years later they meet again and their chemistry is still off the charts and you can feel the intensity between them. They were so perfect for each other even after the 5 years apart. Their reunion was a slow burn as secrets came to light but I really loved how Sarina told their story. It was an emotional rollercoaster but one that I was happy to be on.
I loved the relationship between all the band members and the tour manager and I really loved the relationship between Adam and Kira. You could really tell just how much they loved each other and how they would do anything for the other person. I could go on about this story but I really don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll keep this short.
This book didn’t disappoint me at all, it has all the amazing storytelling that I associate with anything Sarina Bowen writes. If you love her other books, you won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to see where Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros take this series!

I have a confession. I hate rock star romances. I avoid them more often than not. So when I saw this book and jumped to read it I had no idea it was about a band. All I knew was it was a collaboration between two of my favourite authors and I had to have it. Then I read the blurb and got nervous.
I should have known better. If anyone could make me love something it's Sarina Bowen. Luckily for me she isn't running a cult or I'd be there with my head shaved ready to go. As it stands I am so glad I committed to these before I knew the genre because I couldn't put it down.
Surprise baby had me so excited but the rock star thing had me worried. But Jonas was awesome. I fell in love with him on every page. He loved Kira so completely and he showed it at every opportunity. He had me picturing John Legend and the adoring way he loves his wife. Which made me smile through the whole book.
Kira was a surprise for me. I didn't expect to like her, I expected her to be completely different. Instead she was just a sweet young girl who fell in love and lost him. But she didn't hold a grudge or be a doormat or let her guilt in the way things played out make her make stupid decisions. She just was understanding and mature and perfect.
I really can't wait to get my hands on the next two books because I'm over my rock star aversion and dying to see where these ladies are going to take these characters.
Lies and lullabies is the first title in the Hush Note trilogy. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of this series, as I adore the writing of all three authors contributing to this trilogy. Jonas and Kira’s story is a sweet, heartwarming second chance love story of family, friendship and forgiveness. Kira and Jonas spend a summer together where they form and incredibly bond and friendship, but their lives move in two different directions until they unexpectedly reconnect five years later. Much changes for both of them over their five years apart. This pair are incredibly endearing and likeable, but both also have their flaws and vulnerabilities. The chemistry between this pair is undeniable, and I loved the way that they work through their issues. Whilst the hero and heroine of this title are endearing and likeable, it was really the side characters who captured my heart, in particular Vivi, Ethan and Adam, and I look forward to reading the subsequent additions to this trilogy. I highly recommend this title if you enjoy Rockstar romance with equal parts heat, heart and humor.
Ms Bowen, you had me at rock star. Throw in a surprise (to him) bubber and the small town vibe and I am all in, baby!
I loved that Jonas wasn't coming off being a manwhore and all of a sudden stopping that for one woman. Was he in the past? Yeah, sure.
And Kira and Vivi.. oh my heart 💕
And diving into the book as an audio gave it that something more for me. Could it be Jonas actually singing to me? Yeah, that could be it. Tim Paige and Erin Mallon (my favourite female narrator for years now) bring Jonas and Kira to life. Sometimes with the written word, subtleties of conversations can be missed, but with it speaking to me I felt all those nuances.
Kira's brother is the kind of family we all need. Loving and protective, he is the perfect man for.... well you need to read to find out. But I can't wait to get his story.
It did take a little while for me to get started with this one, but once I got past a couple of things at the beginning, I was hooked Hooked, I tell you!
I am looking forward to the other books in the Hush Notes series.
Lies & Lullabies by Sarina Bowen is the first book in the new Hush Note series. A series of three books, each one written by a different author but all set in the same world and of the same band, Hush Note. This is Joans and Kira's story. A summer friendship that began in Nest Lake, Maine between a young woman recovering from a tragic ordeal and a young rock star hiding away and finding his muse.
Jonas returns to Nest Lake with his band mates determined to find a few days of the peace he found that summer, five years ago. What he did NOT expect to find was the woman he left behind, his muse, his Kira. Even more so, he did not expect to learn that he was also a father.
Wonderfully written with views of the past interactions told as present day reminiscing and with a dual point of view between Jonas and Kira, this romance was everything I needed to get out of my book funk. Sarina always has been a must-read author for me and learning that this series not only had Sarina Bowen but also Devney Perry and Rebecca Yarros as authors was a absolute yes for me. Loved it! Enjoy!
Lies and Lullabies was the first book of Sarina Bowen’s that I’ve read and gosh what have I been missing out on?
I picked this one up as the audiobook and it would have to be one of my favourite audiobooks - I’m pretty sure I squealed out loud when he started singing!
This was a sweet love story with a gorgeous little girl to pull Jonas and Kira back to each other. This has all the charm of a small town romance with the added kicker of Jonas being a big time rockstar - two of my all time favourite tropes. A big tick from me.
