The Right Player is a sweet, light, fluffy but super steamy sports romance between a professional NFL player and an interior designer. It was fairly low drama & low angst and an all round breezy read.
Belle is a warm, bubbly, funny, strong independent woman but she has been emotionally hurt in the past that leads her to seek purely physical & short lived relationships. She doesn't like to get emotionally attached to the guys she is interested in and is seemingly happy with her view on relationships. We first met Belle in The Wrong Game and though it's not necessary to read that book prior to this one I still suggest it to those who like to read all interconnected books in order.
Makoa is the epitome of a cinnamon roll hero with a bit of an alpha streak. He is family oriented, emotionally aware, sensitive, kind, strong, caring, loving but also slightly misguided. He knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Having had his own issues in past relationships he is wary of people's intentions and doesn't trust easily when it comes to disclosing his profession. It made me slightly nervous at times with how long he kept this from Belle but I did understand his reasoning I just didn't like the 'lying' aspect. It's one thing to omit the truth but outright lying is never a good idea.
I really enjoyed this story but it also played out exactly how I was expecting it to. It was a little too easy & predictable as you can easily guess to entire conflict and resolution early on which honestly I don't mind but I would've really loved a bit more from the story. The cameo's of Gemma & Zach aswell as the additions of Makoa's family & some of his heritageitage truly made this book special.
This is the perfect book for those looking for a quick, easy, stress free read to distract you from the real world & if you have read and enjoyed Neat by Kandi Steiner then you will probably also enjoy this book.
I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
We first met these characters in The Wrong Game where Gemma and Zach found real love and their happily ever after, Now its turn to find Belle hers. The Right Player could be read as a standalone but I absolutely reccomend you read The Wrong Game first to really get to know these awesome characters. I promise you that will not regret it ❤
Belle first meets Makoa (Mak) when he appears in her office looking for someone to make his new house feel like home and who knew that this meeting would change the course of both their lives. There is a definite connection between them and they both know it. They finish that meeting off at Mak's place where Belle is having some dirty thoughts, little did she know that Mak is the ultimate gentleman.
Belle and Mak definitely have a lot of chemistry and agree to go on a date, unfortunately both of them have very different ideas about what should happen on dates with some very different time lines. Belle wants to get down and dirty, while Mak has very different thoughts on that.
Both of these characters have pasts, both of which involve their ex's lying and using and ultimately hurting them which has made both of them super weary of falling for anyone else. This of course means they are scared , scared of falling for someone and scared of trusting that person. Unfortunately that could end in disaster for both of them, especially when there are real feelings involved for both of them.
Can this pair resolve their issues enough to make a real go of a relationship?
This book was amazing, I simply did not want to put it down. I loved that Gemma and Zach were in it a lot as I really loved that pair first time round.
Great story, great flow, great characters with a whole lot of sizzle!
Mak's is the ultimate book boyfriend, what a guy, Kandi you really hit it out the park with this man ❤
The Right Player is a full length standalone romantic comedy written by Kandi Steiner.
I have been anxiously waiting for a book on Belle Monroe after reading The Wrong Game last year and let me tell you this story was worth the wait because I loved every damn minute of it. I think this is my favourite book from Kandi to date.
This sports romance gave me so many feels. A gentle swoony hero and a fun sassy heroine - I simply adored Makoa and Belle. It was light, sweet and sexy with just a little angst.
I definitely recommend this book to all - While you're at it, give The Wrong Game a go which is Gemma and Zach's story.
The Right Player is the first novel I’ve read by author Kandi Steiner and I adored it. It is a dual point of view sports romance that follows Makua and Belle as they enlist in a tumultuous relationship that will test their love. It is a fun, sweet romance where the nice guy finally wins and the woman knows exactly what she is looking for, just not in this particular package. Overall, I throughly enjoyed this book and would recommend to any romance fan.
What an enjoyable read. I know one thing; I wish there were more men around like Makoa! What an absolute sweetheart. This was a great book with well developed characters, lots of sweet moments and some heat. My only complaint is that I think there were some missed opportunites with the ending, it could have taken the book to 10/10. I enjoyed the HEA but it felt like it was more for Gemma and Zach then Belle and Makoa. It is still well worth the read and a great way to while away a few hours.
So this book is the perfect, care free no added stress kinda book if you need something to make your feel good and have too much going on that you need something to make you smile. Bella and Mak were polar opposites in their view of life but were able to come together overcome past obstacles. Mak is the boyfriend we all wants he is sweet, caring Nd drop dead sexy. Kandi you have created yet another sweet read.
Kandi Steiner always and I do mean ALWAYS delivers an amazingly crafted story with all the feels. If you are a Kandi virgin, hop along for the ride of no regrets!! Swoonworthy + football player + goofy guy + a boss heroine = a story you need to tap.
Makoa is a gentle giant, a goofy, fun loving, unable to cook worth a damn Hawaii god. Get ready to laugh, swoon, shed a few tears, sniffle, clutch at your heart and shake your head. Belle is a scarred goddess, the queen to his king, a boss, an open wound ready to heal and someone that is so ready to laugh and live.
Their journey is filled with laughter, getting soaked in the rain, oversized hoodies, dirty trivia, inedible food, thoughtfulness, a three date rule that changes everything, a secret and a chance.
With their hearts on the line will they run towards it or take the easy way out and back away? *ARC recipient*
