Catch 22 is a fantastic second instalment to the Westover Prep series. Run along a simultaneous timeline to the first book, over summer then merging for a continued shared tale of woe at the hellish Westover Prep - high school really can be Hell. Emotions run high, feelings run deep, communication fluctuates, family is complex and friendships give strength. I definitely recommend reading this series.
I have been dying to get my hand on Frankie and Zeke’s book since I read One Eighty and fell in love with Dalton and Piper. The little teasers we got from the phone conversations between Piper and Frankie over the holidays had me coming up with all sorts of wild guesses as to what their story was going to be.
I am not a massive bully romance fan but I do enjoy my new adult / young adult romance and I have to say that Marie James did it all to perfection. She made me hate these guys yet still love them so much. I completely sympathised with everything Zeke was going through. Now don’t get me wrong he was a colossal dick and some of his choices were beyond stupid, especially in the second half of the story. And although my heart broke for all that he was going through I still wanted him to get a good smack in the mouth and a come to Jesus moment.
Frankie was so mature and I loved that she was prepared to listen and give him the opportunity he didn’t deserve to prove his sincerity in making up for all his mistakes. She was so alone it made my heart hurt for her. I just wanted to see her parents to wake up and realise they weren't present in their daughters life. But luckily she had Piper to shower her with the love and affection she deserved and Dalton to look out for them both.
I really was hoping to get more of Dalton and Piper and I was glad that they were present in the second half of this book. But I really would have loved to see Dalton get his memory back. That said they were still as great together as they were in their own book so I was very happy to get what I did of them and I loved that Dalton and Zeke became such good friends. I would have loved to get more of the new foreman in Utah because he was just such a great secondary character. But oh well I guess I’ll just wait for Drea’s book because damn that is already shaping up to be unputdownable. And hopefully it follows in the footsteps of this one and we get more Piper and Dalton and Zeke and Frankie.
I absolutely LOVED this book!!! All the angst, the emotions, the heart ache...OH MY GOD!!!! This just might be my absolute favorite book written by this fantastic author. This book hooked me right from the get go. I was so in to the story that I could not put it down, I devoured it within a few hours! Zeke and Frankie's story just pulled me in. I fell in love with Zeke's character pretty much instantly, what's not to love about him?
The push and pull of between the characters made this even more angsty...Will they? Won't they? It pulled me in to the story even more. This book was hot with all that tension between them. And my heart just about burst with happiness in a few parts. This story is just SO GOOD!!
I definitely recommend this high school bully romance. I can't wait to find out what is in store for us next from this author. With each book I become even more hooked on her writing! I can't wait.
Catch Twenty-Two is book 2 in the Westover Prep series; while this is part of a series you can read as a standalone.
Frankie is getting a fresh start for the Summer, staying with her grandmother in the middle of nowhere she finds herself right back in the halls of Westover Prep. The Hot and Cold that Zeke gives her has nothing to do with the amazing person she is its all to do with his own issues. When everything falls apart and Zeke finds himself standing in the halls of Westover he pushes away the one person he wants close, can he put the pieces back together after he has broken them over and over again.
I enjoyed reading Catch Twenty-Two; while I am not a fan of the bully romance this was lighter than book 1. I look forward to reading more from James in the future.
Book 2 in the Westover Prep series is every bit as good as the first. I can’t seem to get enough of bully romances and Marie James has written two of the best I have ever read. Zeke and Frankie’s story gripped me right from the start. I think deep down Zeke wasn’t a bully, but the hand he had been dealt made it easy for him to take his anger out on Frankie. And she seemed to be an easy target as she rarely fought back. So much happens throughout this book and I really don’t want to give away too many spoilers. But be warned, this book is an absolute page turner and at times will make you feel you are on a roller coaster. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
