MANTRUM is Jacob Chance at his RomCom finest. From beginning to end this book is funny, sexy and downright addictive. Jacob has brought together two total opposites ... him, a hot headed, temper tantrum throwing man and she, a normally calm, serene and patient woman ... and it works, it really really works. This is just one of those stories that you must have in your life and on your bookshelf.
Rex Winters, self-employed construction worker, is such a great character. He's sexy, alpha, fun, loyal, a bad boy and he has this really bad habit of losing his temper. When he loses it, he doesn't do it mildly ... this man full on loses it. Rex is also the doting single dad of a fifteen year old daughter, Ruby. Danika Putnam is a Parking Enforcement Officer. She's the calm one, slightly introverted (when you compare her to her wacky friends), she's content where she is in life, hardworking (loves her job and it's vitally important to her) and the last thing she is expecting is for her life to be turned upside down by a complete stranger.
A parking ticket, anger management classes and a man who doesn't know how to back down from a challenge, all lead to a very humourous and entertaining story. Together Rex and Danika had some of the best chemistry I have seen in a RomCom. The will I?/won't I?, push and pull of their relationship was just magical. They both have an influence on each other but in different ways. I loved watching their characters develop and grow.
I don't think that I have ever laughed so much as this when reading a book. Rex's antics (and those of his brothers) were simply hilarious. Golf may never be the same again after these boys!!! Axe throwing ... now that was definitely a different one!!! But it's not all fun and games, there are some really hot sizzling moments (yes Jacob certainly knows how to write those to perfection) and a little bit of drama to balance everything out.
Once again Jacob Chance has written a flawless story. It is definitely one that is relateable and realistic. (I could imagine several of my male friends being just like Rex and his brothers). I definitely need more of those Winter brothers. An outstanding way to begin 2020 for Jacob and his readers. An absolute MUSTREAD.

THIS DESERVES SO MUCH MORE THAN FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Jacob Chance you have done it again Talk about rom-com gold. I laughed out loud so much I had tears running down my face. Rex and Danika were a refreshing change of pace. Couldn’t put it down They hit you like a whirlwind... and Rex is so irresistibly swoons. Who doesn’t love a man that’s good with his hands. Eager to find out what happens with his brothers... as the secondary characters were just as loveable. Bring on Manfax.
I haven't laughed this hard while reading a book in a very long time. The calm and the storm collide and bring one hell of a funny, swoon worthy story. Jacob Chance has started 2020 with a bang. If this is what he has in store for us for the rest of the year, it's going to be a very good year for him.
This story is filled with shameless flirting, moments to make you giggle, some to make you gasp out loud and pull on your heart strings even. It’s a wonderful romance that can happen to anyone. I recommend this read if you are a closet romantic! Aren’t we all?
