Light and fluffy, but with structural problems

2.5 read - everything from the storyline to the characters was just so obviously over-engineered.
The blind date gone wrong scenario - the mix up could have been done a number of ways, but add alcohol and Elena is hot to trot. Jack goes along with the lie, seduces her. So the rat-fink has started their foundation off on a bunch of lies (and he's the one with trust issues??????)
Elena, our Librarian, is the kind of pretty where it takes a while for guy to notice but at the same time she's not supposed to be that spectacular except every single character tells her how absolutely fearless, sassy and wonderful she is. Then add more layers where she makes her own hot, hot secret lingerie.
Author did the same with the Jack - fantastically good looking, layered, shy, rather sweet, but man does he have a truck load of baggage - trust issues etc.
His love of k-soaps and pop music - came out of left field, and struck me as more juvenile than endearing.
It's like the author was checking off a variety of check boxes so she could claim the characters were layered. It was weird.
Same with the story - we seemed to go through a rote of scenes; interrupted sex, sassy talk, sex, mistrust rears its head, misunderstanding, failure to communicate - check, check, check.
I liked it - but the longer it went on, the more the author's over-engineering became more apparent rather than just letting the story unfold.
