Whenever I read a new Rosalind James book I feel like I’ve just slipped on my favourite pair of slippers. She is the most wonderful author and her writing is phenomenal. All of her NZ books are fabulous and this one is no different. It’s the story of mother of three Poppy who has an faithful husband and bad marriage. She meets Matiu at a family wedding and then again when he delivers her third child in an emergency labour. The attraction is instant and throughout the book he demonstrates how a real man should look after his women. This is a wonderful story and I can’t recommend this book enough. Hopefully there is more after book 2!
Sometimes sequels can let the side down. This one? Not at all! There's a welcome return to the characters and locations in Kiwi Rules and the introduction to a new side of the whanau (family). There's the usual humour, sass, sexiness & honest situations that I've come to expect in a book by Rosalind. If you're a contemporary romance fan, you'll love this title.
It was a slightly different read this time, but a book full of emotion, family drama, and the characters I’ve loved in previous books. Rosalind has a way of writing that draws me right into her books, makes me love her characters, and I never want to leave. Saddest part is, that now I have to wait for her next one.
Once again, Rosalind James has captured her readers hearts and imagination with Stone Cold Kiwi, bringing to life her love and appreciation of New Zealand, the customs and culture in a 5 star story, set in the beautiful South Island of Aotearoa. The story of Poppy and Matiu, one a mother of 2 beautiful children (baby number 3 is about to make an appearance) and the other a doctor working in a busy hospital, Stone Cold Kiwi starts just as Poppy’s life changes, discovering her husband’s affair just after giving birth to their third child ... outside the hospital, on the grass, with Dr Matiu Te Mana quickly summoned to give a hand. What follows is an emotionally uplifting story that readers of contemporary romance will enjoy. Stone Cold Kiwi has drama, it has fun, it has love and romance, it has obstacles and dilemmas in the way of a happy ever after, and it has delightfully real and loveable characters. From Matiu, who is deemed a player, to Poppy who has so much to give to the right person and of course the scene-stealers, Poppy’s children, Hamish who is somewhat reserved and a very responsible big brother, Olivia who is quite sassy, yet hilarious and of course new little baby Isobel. Rosalind James always captures the essence of children and how as secondary characters, they really add positively to the whole story, with their relationships with the adults in their life often a vital part of the book, and a part that I’m sure many readers can identify with and laugh out loud to, as well as well empathise with what’s going on in their heads. Stone Cold Kiwi is ultimately a romance, a love story and its beautifully written, with both new and familiar faces making an appearance. It’s a definite 5 star read from me, as it is full of hope and persevere, of battling the odds with some steamy moments and of course some sweet moments too. Recommended for both new and familiar readers of Rosalind James books, you’ll just love this latest trip to New Zealand and all it has on offer.
I've read every book Rosalind James has written and with each new one I'm convinced her writing just gets better. I thought the first book in this series [Kiwi Rules] was powerful and so is Stone Cold Kiwi but for me, just more romantic. How can you not fall for Matiu and how could he not fall for Poppy and her famiy. Such a well written "romantic" book.
I’m not even quite finished reading and I can’t wait to tell you all how Awesome this book is. Hooked from page one! Can’t decide who I love most Matiu the hottie or Poppy the super woman, what strong characters. Ms James this one is spectacular. This might be a work of fiction but there are some real life lessons to be taken away from this book. Cheers Michelle in Australia.
Stone Cold Kiwi by Rosalind James is a thoroughly captivating story that I couldn’t put down. Matiu’s story and what a beautiful story it is. This book is definitely going on my read again list! Read Today & you won’t be disappointed.
