If you have a large collection of music in files, this device is drag and drop heaven. Format the card in your new walk and then copy over your collection via a card reader (to speed up process) then top up your collection via the device over USB I love being able to search and select my music via folders (I'm old-school) Perfect for my needs, LDAC bluetooth audio with Sony headphones is unbeatable sound qualty Buy both and enjoy your music !
I've had a small Sony MP3 player now for a decade, and it still works and the battery life is still amazing. However, I've been slowly shifting everything over to FLAC and wanted an upgrade. I tried to go cheap and tried other players but the user interfaces are always garbage and glitchy. Finally I splurged and grabbed this and very happy with it.
I have issues sleeping, so, almost every night I listen to music in bed for 30-90min. So I wanted an MP3 player that I could control in the dark. This has nice tactile buttons that I can easily find in the dark and skip through tracks with. Also an option to keep the screen from turning on when using the buttons, until you click the power button.
I've listened to it almost every night for 2 weeks and the battery indicator has only dropped 1 bar.
It feels good in the hand, has some weight to it, definitely a quality build. The sound is very good, and it has way more than enough to power my 36-Ohm AudioTechnica headphones. I've seen reviews saying it may not have enough power, but the reviews never mention what headphones they have. For basic 32-Ohm these are fine, again my 36-Ohm if I go too high hurt my ears. If you need it to go louder, you probably need to see an ear Doctor.
Happy I grabbed this player, and hoping it lasts a decade like my last ones.
Very happy (excellent sound, functionality and Bluetooth pairing), but again, like previous Walkman models, unit "creates index" each time it boots up (even if no changes have been made to the stored music). I have almost 10,000 songs so that takes a while (though admittedly faster than previous models). Why Sony requires this repeated index creation when much cheaper players manage to operate fine without it is mindboggling. Also, if you have a large music collection, don't even bother with the recommended Music Centre app - it's useless - has never even come closer to recognizing my collection without crashing. Use one of the many 3rd party alternative apps out there - they work fine synching with this unit.
Wow, I love it. This DAP has over 40 hours of battery life when using APTX-HD, sounds great and has a nice look. Bluetooth on this device has awesome stability and range! I got super annoyed with my Fiio M7's buggy firmware and shoddy Bluetooth (and my previous Fiio X1 II) I had to move away from Fiio. I recall how well my old Sony A17 DAP played however it's BT wasn't all that great so I was a bit intimidated to buy the A55... So glad I did no issues at all.
The sound that comes from this device is amazing, I am very pleased with it. However, the device is NOT compatible with Apple's AirPods, as the AirPods disconnect from it when outside, but that's an Apple problem, not a Sony problem. When used with my other headset, the bluetooth worked flawlessly everywhere.
The touch screen is very responsive and there are so many options I have yet to try them all. Sadly you can't use equalizers when using bluetooth, but I find that I didn't even need the equalizer because the base sound is perfect for my liking.
The battery life seems pretty good, but I can't really tell since using bluetooth drains the battery faster. There is a battery care option, which is appreciated. I have had Walkmans before, so I'm pretty sure the battery life is on par with the rest of them.
Overall, I am very happy with this product and if you just want a good MP3 for when you go out and about, then I find this device to be perfect for that!
this is a replacement for another companies music player that was giving me issues especially dropping out of sound while using Bluetooth. So far this Sony unit is far superior in every way making me wish I bought it in the first place.
