To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Hilary Mcphee's memoir is an engrossing read. This book, unlike her earlier "Other People's Words", is very much about the author herself. The end of a long marriage, the death of her mother, friends dying, the challenges of an examined life, it's all there - the publisher stripped bare! A finely crafted book about a courageous woman of our time.
The searing honesty of this memoir made this book compulsive reading. We accompany the author on a difficult journey through a fascinating, but challenging period of her life. I found it inspirational.
