You know that feeling when you finish a book and you sit there for a moment feeling warm inside? That's how I felt when I finished 'Holding onto Hope'. What I love about Nicki's writing is the imagery and sense of setting she is able to create. The setting of MacArthur Point, which I believe is a fictional place along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria Australia, sounded like a place I wanted to call home. In fact, I want to move there and be life-long friends with the main characters Hope and Mitchell! That's the other talent Nicki has - creating characters who you feel could be your best friends. You feel for them, cheer for them and want to sit down with a cup of tea and chat for hours with them. The story was heartfelt, emotional and touched on many serious issues without making it a heavy read. If you love feel-good stories with heart, you will love this one.
Loved this book. One of the author's best books I thought - and I've read all of her publications. You never quite knew how it was going to end, so it had me hooked on finishing it until the early hours of the morning. There are a few different things happening as sub-plots, which also keep the reader interested and wanting to find out what happens. Anxiously awaiting the next book.
