New to me author, I was recommended this book through sponsored on Facebook, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Curse of Stone is book one in the Academy Of The Damned series by Veronica Shade.
This was a enjoyable read, with so new concept with never seen before powers/abilities for witches. The characters were great with their own unique personalities, spunk, and dynamic to the group. The storyline was engaging, fast paced, adventurous, mysterious, and magical. I read this book in two days, I was intrigued and hooked from the beginning even with it being a little slow paced at times i was still enthralled and wanted to know what was going to happen next. I can’t wait to read book two and see what is in store for Madison and her friends.
Madison is a witch but she has had to keep it secret from her best friend Julieta and boyfriend Beau. When a terrible storm hits their town, Julieta is knocked unconscious and can’t move, Madison must use her powers to protect her friend, but in doing so she kills Beau. With the devastation of knowing she is the reason for Beau’s death cause she doesn’t have strong control over her magic, Madison decides she needs to attend ‘La Voisin’ a school for witches. Being a witch from a weak magical history, Madison must work hard to prove she belongs at the School. But when a fellow witch is killed and is now haunting Madison, she must find out how the witch was killed when Witches can’t kill, even though Beau died. With the help from her new friends Jaxon, Krista, Ivy and the dead witch Giselle, Madison discovers secrets about herself and the school.
What a fantastic start to a new series. Madison is a air witch a freak storm happens and she saves her best friend who was in danger but in turn accidentally kills her boyfriend then Madison runs home to a mother that is high on drugs so Madison makes the decision to enrol at a magical school for witches La Voison academy. When Madison arrives she is bullied by the popular girl Giselle then Madison finds out that Giselle is her roommate but something happens to Giselle and Madison is under suspicion now she’s determined to get to the bottom of it all. Loved this story and I can’t wait to read book 2 and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read. I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and I voluntarily leave my review.
4.5 star read YA fantasy isn’t my normal read but this was fast paced and entertaining, and really draws you in. This book started with a bang and just kept going from their. I’m totally hooked. Maddison (a witch born to mundane parents) can control wind. She is trying to live a normal life until her boyfriend is killed in a freak accident which she blames herself for. What happens next lead us on our adventure... The story does leave a few things unresolved... but that just makes me want to read the next book more. Bring on book 2.

This book is slow paced. It centres around Madison, an air witch with a drug addicted human mother. Following some trauma she attends an academy for witches so she can control her immense power and in the process stumbles into some solid friendships and an unsolved mystery and murder to boot! If you are patient, it does move along to a conclusion and finishes with the promise of some romance.
What's not to love? Academy setting with romance and paranormal elements! Veronica creates an amazing world to get lost into with the curse of the stone. The characters were beautifully created and the storyline flows with ease. You'll be pulled into this whirlwind and will be begging for book two. Absolutely loved every single thing about this book. Engaging, interesting and addictive.
