I am at risk of gushing over Christmas For The Deputy, Nicole Helm”s latest contemporary western Christmas romance. Set mostly on a ranch near Last Stand, Texas, this story stars widow Penelope Wakefield, who has returned home with her three daughters Aggie, Brynn and Daisy, in a bid to get her life back track. Penelope is desperately trying to live up to her perception of her mother’s standards and falling short. I loved the way her family stepped in and helped her to understand that she was a different person to her mother with different strengths and values. Ethan Thompson, rescued from a manipulative father by Penelope’s mother, has grown into his role as deputy sheriff of Last Stand but he’s still frightened of committing. Despite that fear Ethan is always there for Pen, helping her daughters to cope with change, helping Pen to unwind and all the time loving her and her girls. This story is beautifully written with well developed characters that wormed their way into my heart. It flows well from start to finish and is one of the best Christmas stories I’ve read this year.
Second book in this wonderful series and like the first book is a masterpiece in analysing feelings and doing the work that makes us really feel the emotions of the characters
Susannah Martin was a law officer but what she did for others was what made her special she took in boys from damaged families and gave them a future by letting them live with her family One of those boys was Ethan Thompson Now Susannah has died and her daughter Penelope a widow to a fallen police officer has returned to the family ranch with her three daughters. She is determined that everything will be perfect for Christmas even though it is a time of year she personally hates. Problem is she is forever judging herself against her mothers memory and falling short in her own eyes. When she breaks her arm will she be able to step back and allow her childhood crush Ethan help her and will he allow his walls to fall enough to admit how he feels about Penelope. You will have to read to see if they get their HEA
I was given a copy of this book but this is a true and honest review
