This just didn’t work for me even though I read to the end. Felt lacking depth and definition all the way through and needed smoothing out instead of jumping around so much. The beginning with Kaia being a doormat to her family was woeful. She has no backbone, just let herself be used and abused knowing it was happening. Then she suddenly gets a backbone when she lands wherever she is. The plot was good but it all comes across like a young adult book except for the sex scene. At times it felt stilted and seemed to veer in different directions. I still don’t know where she is or anything about this place. We also get a ridiculous other woman scenario who keeps groping the hero and attempting to seduce him. I actually liked Jerrek and his shifter form. Have no interest in the other two women’s stories. I was kindly offered this book but read it through KU.
Funny, heroic and sweet Kaia ends up in another world, saving others and empowering the females of that realm to stand their ground. The King is cursed, strong and also kind. Together they uncover the illegal trade of citizens being sold at a slave market. While the book is not overly mind blowing or have any depth to the world building, its still an enjoyable and good for a quick hea read.
I loved this very entertaining tale which I think is fun and filled with plenty of hot chemistry as well as many twists and turns. A fascinating start to a new series that is well written and well worth getting to read.. This is my honest opinion.
I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
