Depravity (noun) ... the state of being morally bad ... corruption, perversion, shamelessness, lasciviousness
Jacob Chance has finally allowed his brilliant talent to shine. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed everything that Jacob has written so far, but with DEPRAVITY he just seems to climb further up the ladder. This story is full of so many emotions and two wonderful characters, that I simply couldn't put it down.
Miles Decker, thirty-three, single dad to precocious almost three year Joey, professor and a man still recovering from a relationship that left him completely shatter and forever cautious about entering another one. This man was divine, incredibly hot, occasionally stubborn, yet he was tender, caring and extremely lovable. Sophie Gardner, nineteen "almost twenty", student, babysitter, mature for her age, sassy, innocent, yet she is strong, resilient and very determined.
Their romance is considered to forbidden, there is a fourteen year age gap, he's a professor, she's a student, but sometimes forbidden needs to be put aside. The chemistry and attraction is instantaneous and close to boiling, but not immediately acted upon. After a rocky beginning a friendship develops, but how can two people fight what they really feel? Short answer, they can't!! A pact is made, but hearts will be broken.
I loved these two characters, and the more I read the more I became invested in them, both individually and as a couple. Both of them have their own flaws, but it is their positives that truly shine. The secondary characters of Sam, Tanner and Tenley superbly fit into Jacob's story perfectly, they provide wise words as well as humorous moments.
Jacob's style of writing, story flow and descriptions had the pace moving along at a steady pace. he doesn't overdramatise scenes, nor does he omit the factors that the reader needs. Everything he writes has a purpose, even the thoughts Miles has about the Dean of the University, that is why i enjoy Jacob's books so much.
This story is an absolute winner and definitely MUST BE READ. Excellent first book in a series from Jacob and Marley Valentine.
Wow! I have read many of Mr Chance's books but this one really blew me away. I could not put it down! I fell in love with every single character in this book, it was just so well written. It's the perfect start to this series.
This book is a slow burn, but sexy read. The dirty talk..**fans myself** The cuteness overload being Joey. Everything about this book was just perfect for me! I love a good forbidden romance, as well as an age gap romance! Sophie and Miles together were just perfect. Their banter was delightful, they had the perfect chemistry. Don't get me started on Sandy though...
I can't wait to see what else this series has in store for us, and I seriously can not wait to see what Mr Chance has for us next. This book is a must read and definitely shows why he is one of my favourite male authors.
Bravo Jacob, Your versatility as an all round Author is one of the reasons you are an Auto one Click Author to me.
Depravity was a hotly anticipated read for me and and was the perfect first instalment in the King University Series. I loved all of it, from the very first page to the last, in fact I couldn’t get enough of Miles & Sophie. Single Dad reads are one of my favourite genres to read and you nailed this storyline to perfection. I love that It’s slightly different to the traditional professor storyline, it made this a thoroughly enjoyable read I can’t wait to give it a reread. (I am always blown away at the level of small details you execute in each of your books)
Miles is one hot delicious Dad, his love and adoration he has for his son Joey is perfectly written and endearing, it’s also what Joey’s babysitter Sophie finds attractive in Miles initially, well until he shows his intense side. Sophie handles him perfectly when he’s intense though. I’m not going to lie I did want to punch him in the face but he redeemed himself. These two leads have an intense sexual chemistry that is palpable while your reading it. This is one delicious read I whole heartedly cannot recommend enough.
Wow, I did love this story of a teacher/student romance and an age gap which is always been one of my favourite genre. Jacob has written this story so well, it is full of angst, emotions; teasing, lusting chemistry between the two characters involved. I honestly could not put this book down.
Miles is a year down the line divorced and a professor at Kings. He has the most adorable son aged 3 called Joey who he needs a sitter for three times a week while he teaches at night. Sophie is looking to make some extra cash to get her through college and when the opportunity to take this job, she jumps at the chance. Sophie is 19 and Miles is 33 and the first time they meet doesn't go too well and this is what I enjoyed about the book because as the story grows we see a change in Miles which is all Sophie's doing. I really enjoyed the exchanges between this couple. They were magnetic together and a different side to Miles emerges. I loved them both for different reasons but I think Miles stole my heart because of what he had been through and the pain that had haunted him. Sophie was a breath of fresh air when she walked into Miles's home which was much needed.
A brilliant book that covered everything for me. There was a twist near the end that had me hanging for a while and with lots of angst, sexual chemistry and some funny moments too this book for me was perfection !!!
Before we start, let’s talk about the cover. A suited guy is always appreciated especially when the shirt is open. I confess it was hard not to stare. But I digress. Let’s get onto the story. The reader is thrown into the fray and dropped into Miles’ life. And it’s not the most pleasant of moments. It does however explain how he can be a bit of a jerk when we see him interact with Sophie later on. You can’t blame him for his guarded attitude. He is slightly jaded after being wronged by a woman and his defensive nature can be excused. Besides, he is an adorable DILF especially when you see him with his son. #ovariesexploding.
Sophie is not only a sweet young woman but she is strong and resilient not to mention her carpe diem attitude. For myself, I could relate to her. Being a bookworm and appearing younger than your years, I can understand why Sophie would hate being called cute. That’s not what a young woman wants to hear.
What starts as an uneasy friendship turns into something much more between Miles and Sophie. The intense attraction peaks to a point where it cannot be ignored any longer. It's passionate and hot but it’s not just about the physical attraction. Feelings are developing and while Sophie maintains she can keep it casual, I feel like a red flag should be waving around madly. You know that never works out and you begin to bite your nails wondering when it is going to blow up.
There are expected barriers to the relationship and a few unexpected ones. Some snide and selfish people or more accurately one person is trying to get in the way and I honestly wanted to slap them. This story is about opening yourself up to someone and letting them into your life after being hurt. Trusting and forgiving the one you love when they make mistakes and often you find what you always needed when you weren’t looking. Jacob Chance has written a great story with well-developed characters, an interesting plot and fantastic moments that make you laugh, smile and swoon.
Forbidden romance. Student/Teacher. Chemistry that is off the charts! Jacob hit this one right out of the park. A page turner at its finest.
Miles is a single dad to his son Joey. Miles wife left without looking back and left her son and husband to figure out life together without her.
Sophie is a friend of Miranda’s - Miles” sister and starts babysitting Joey while Miles works at night.
With no time for a love life or wanting any type of relationship with raising his son alone Miles starts to realise how lonely he really is when Sophie enters his life. Temptation is everywhere and their chemistry is off the charts! I loved this book and it will definitely one of my favourite reads of 2019.
This was a delicious slowburn, single dad read. Miles is a jaded single dad focused on his son. Sophie is the college student needing extra cash. Her part time job turns into a seriously hot summer fling & then so much more.
I loved their banter and the slowburn feel of the book. I really enjoyed the supporting characters in the story & was guessing which ones we were introduced to would be making an appearance in the other books. Great read! Definitely recommend
Wowsers, where do I even begin? Jacob Chance has brought the heat and all feels with this one. Depravity is filled with banter, sexual tension and humor. Miles and Sophie sizzle together and I kinda miss them a little bit already. My jaw dropped in the prologue with Miles' ex Sandy, it's been a while since I've wanted to hurt a fictional character, and she had me raging. All in all, I loved this story and I look forward to the next installment.
