I have not been in a reading mood for the last 12 months. Only reading the occasional book. But, Savaged was recommened and Mia has never disappointed in the past. So I one clicked, and it didn't disappoint. I couldn't put it down. Every spare minute I would read a page. A wonderful read. Excellant story. You won't be disappointed.
Mia Sheridan has written an impressive and memorable trope in 'Savaged'. From the impactful beginning to the unpredictable climax, I was engrossed! There are shades of a couple of classics, but Mia certainly brings her own vision to this wonderful story.
The setting is wild, unspoiled Helena Springs, Montana and its township.
The genre is a mix of romance, crime and suspence.
The story unfolds through multiple POVs and with backstories, mixed in with present time. The main theme in the book is the power of love and the human spirit.
The two main characters are tour guide, Harper Ward and primal, mountain man, Jak. They are both tragic, solitary individuals who survived separate hardships. Harper and Zak just have that beautiful, soulmate connection and their attraction is raw and instinctual.
The complications in the storyline prove challenging and dangerous as this emotional narrative progresses. 'S' is deep, multilayered and both humourous and heartbreaking, at the same time. The plot also uncovers dark fears, secrets and deceptions. I think it's Mia's best since the magical 'Archer's Voice'.
This is the 2nd book that I have read by Mia Sheridan recently and like Archer's Voice, Savaged has not disappointed.
Harper's and Jak's story as told in Savaged is a touching read of love and loss with a bit of crime and intrigue thrown into the mix to spice things up.
Due to tragedy in their lives, both Harper and Jak are used to having to fend for themselves as they are each truly alone and only when they come together do they realise how desperately they need each other. Their relationship also is pivotal to other supporting characters finding their way out of the dark times of their lives and it is lovely to read a story with such a beautifully written cast and a touching storyline.
Savaged also has its fair share of drama with elements of the Hunger Games, Lord of the Flies and Greystoke seemingly influencing the writing of Mia Sheridan. It makes for a wonderful mix as the author has skilfully woven a dramatic tale into what is ultimately, a beautiful love story betwen 2 very likeable characters.
For something a little bit different I would definitely recommend Savaged.
This one is that something that is a little different from the regular romance tropes. The 'wild man' aspect was handled beautifully, and Jak's flashbacks had me in tears, it was almost if I could see it happening in front of me. I loved how Jak's character was handled, as an adult, accepted for who and what he was, wild parts and all.
Mia Sheridan can write emotion, and this one is no exception, this is the first suspense style story that I've read by her though, and I thought it very well done. The twists at the end, I never saw them coming!!
Highly, highly recommended.
*I read this through Kindle Unlimited, but I think I may just have to splurge and buy myself a copy of this one!
Wow.... what an amazing read from start to finish. My heart went out to Jak and his way of life. His life growing up was awe inspiring, just amazing. What a beautiful man he is. So well written and even had some humour to it. A deep romance between 2 lost souls capped this off. Everyone needs a caveman in their life. Loved it.
Thank you Mia for writing this absolutely wonderful book! It's a thought provoking and heartbreaking mystery with a love story that just makes you feel. Highly recommend to anyone who has thought about reading this book to take a chance. You won't regret it!
