These are great boots, but are much more oriented towards hiking than some more fake hiking urban wear boots. The sole of the boot is slightly larger than the uppers, to provide better traction on loose ground. That takes a little getting used to, especially going down stairs the first time — there is a tendency to catch the back of the heel on the stair. You only do that once, but it's a little scary that first time. The boots come with a tiny"tidy bungee" to tuck in the trailing laces, and you really need to use it, as the lugs along the side of the boots can easily catch in the laces and trip you.
I do get away with wearing these in casual/formal situations, but you need to be aware they are very different from hybrid running shoes/formal shoes. If you like to walk everywhere, like I do, you will quickly feel attached to them. If you are buying them for their looks, maybe a little less so, I would guess.
Great pair of shoes. I wouldn't say a thin width of foot fit, but tending that way. If you have wide feet they might be a bit snug. I also went a half size up from my normal size and the length was perfect.
I got the blue highlighted shoe because it was a lot cheaper than all black, and actually it looks pretty good, nicer than in the pictures.
