5.0 out of 5 stars A mighty fine camera

Primaily aiming to lighten my load, I have decided, with trepidation, to 'downgrade' to a micro four-thirds system, after 45 years as a Nikon user. So after months of research and head scratching I settled on the Panasonic G9, and I am just amazed at how capable the camera is, with its ergonomics, features and image quality all being superb. I have absolutely no regrets over my decision in making the change.

Had the G7 great camera but was missing something... bought Sony a6500, great camera but was still missing something. Finally bought the G9 & wow! Super impressed with all the features and latest firmware update. A superb piece of kit indeed. Don't think I could ever outgrow it's capabilities. Lookin fwd to many years of photography with it. Well done Panasonic!

Fantastic value, not only did I get an incredible camera, but I bought it at a fantastic price through Amazon.
I love the Micro 4/3 camera and this one is the cream of the crop when it comes to Still Photography. It is packed full of features and for video too but I will mainly use it for stills. Its no wonder there are so many fans of this camera out there, all you have to do is search YouTube for Lumix G9 and you can see how good it is.

I started my mft journey with a gx80. I couldnt pick a thing that I dont like about it. G9 is my third mft but my first brand new camera in 10 years.
Aitofocus is great, there is a bit of hunting. High speed shooting is possible.
Picture quality is great. Flippy screen is good. So many buttons to customize.
Paired with lumix 12 35 n 35 100 f2.8, leica 25mm f1.4 I can leave my 5d mkiii at home and get going about my life with the g9.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proficient performer

This is just a very good camera. It's equivalent in performance to an Olympus EM1 Mk2 and especially works well with Panasonic lenses. The real advantage of the micro 4/3 system is the stellar lenses and the smaller size and price of the fast wide angles and long telephoto lenses compared to full-frame. While noise has been a potential problem in micro 4/3 at high isos, this is now largely negated by the excellent noise reduction programs now available such as deep prime in DxO Optics Photolab 4 elite.

Real amateur photographers do it with Micro Four Thirds (recall the size of 35mm film cameras?) not hulking great Full Format jobs. And don’t be fooled by APS-C either - make sure you add all the prospective weights and dimensions of your kit before you commit.
Thanks to firmware update v2.4 - the continuous eye auto focus (and in video), and 6.5 stops of stabilisation on this Lumix DC-G9 with its dual UHSII SD card, and tack-sharp Leica lenses make this a no-brainer future proof system. Loving it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Significant upgrade from Lumix G6
Reviewed in Australia on 21 May 2022

The camera is an enormous step-up from the G6. The only negatives (if we need to list them) are the increased weight and size, everything else is positive. I use it predominantly for stills photography so the lack of some video features from the GH5 doesnt bother me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful camera

Absolutely love the camera. I did several weeks research whether to get an Olympus or Panasonic micro 4/3.
I decided to stick with Panasonic and so far it has impressed me.
When I saw the price drop during the Black Friday sale I immediately bought it.
