The Revenge of Seven is the 5th novel in the Lorien Legacies series. it follows on from the devastating ending to "The Fall of Five" in which the Garde (spoilers ahead) were betrayed by one of there own. In the ensuing battle Eight was killed and the Garde separated and scattered.
Revenge of Seven jumps straight back into the action, and really takes the story to a whole new level. Within the first few chapters there are major dynamic-shifting revelations
Tired of being on the defensive, John Smith, also known as Number Four leads his team, on a daring raid on a Mogadorian command post on a mission to assasinate some of the Mogadorian leadership
In the meantime Number Six, Marina and Number Nine fight for there survival after the betrayal of Number Five and the death of Eight. They too decide to take the fight to the Mogadorians.
Somewhat in the vein of Game of Thrones, the book jumps from viewpoint to viewpoint, telling each chapter from the perspective of a different character. This is a fantastic way of doing things as we really get to know each character and their particular mindset and motivation. In fact the characters in this novel feel a lot more fleshed out than in previous installments to the series. My only complaint is that there is no idcation at the beginning of each chapter as to who's viewpoint is being used...leading to a bit of a process of elimination until you work it out.
Overall Revenge of Seven is a fantastic read. It's action packed and has some awesome revelations and ends on one heck of a cliff hanger... not sure how I'll manage to wait for the next one
