Top positive review
good mix of light novels, wixia and western fantasy

Normally don't write reviews but wanted to give something for those who are confused by the mixed reviews. Firstly books like slim dungeon and litrpgs are actually based on novels from Korea and japan, which in turn were based around actually video game concepts so honestly none of them are ripoffs its just a sub genre, in this case Dungeon core. With that in mind please ignore the reviews that say its the same as this is actually quite original in a lot of ways.
This book is basically a standard dungeon core book in the vain of Japanese light novels but combines those ideas with both Chinese wuxia and western fantasy ideas to make a interesting and fun read without the need for the game style pop ups. instead it keeps the game concepts and uses the rank and monster system of wuxia and takes the fantasy culture of the west.
This actually makes for a better world building and also gives a good pacing to progression of the dungeon, the main plot is very slow in the first book focusing on growing the world and mechanics of the essence/magic system. The main weak point for me is the characters which feel a little flat in places mostly due to there being very limit interactions outside of combat or business negotiations.
If you enjoy litrpg or rank based growth stories then you will likely enjoy this, its a good fun light read with strong world building. However if your looking for fast moving plot and complex characters better to look at something else.
