A nice sequel and continuation of the series. On the whole the characterisation was well done, with only some minor instances of characters acting in a manner that furthered the plot, but didn't match their past actions. The character development for the main characters was relatively believable, and continued nicely from the last book. The plot also continued smoothly from the first book, although it felt a bit time compressed given that the articulated timeline for both books is only a couple of months. There were some nice twists, and clear consequences to actions (something not always present in fiction), but there were some instances where things simply fell into place a bit too easily. The magic system has continued to expand nicely, as has the political landscape. Hopefully the next book will continue this trend - as well as include consequences for the finale. On the whole, a solid second book, that while finishing on a nice cliffhanger, could have done with some more work.
Loved this book as much as the first one and can't wait to read the next one but hopefully, it will not be such a long wait as I consumed this book in 2 sittings and only because I had to sleep early for work. :(
Keep up the great work and drink more (insert energy drink of choice).
Cal & Dale have both grown, and Dani is getting involved with the new monsters. We have Goblins on the third/fourth floor due to the essence drugging of the water. Cal continues his experimentation to find and design the perfect monsters. Unfortunately it seems that part of the Dungeon has gotten loosens is now returning to the Dungeon. Good book in a good series.
Finished the first book last week now finished the second and cant wait for the third. The sense of humour in these books is fantastic with a great mix of action and always wanting to know whats gonna happen next.
