To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
No night vision... bummer. A tad of a job to install the back camera ( 3hrs to figure it out on a F150). You have to route it via the top molding, disconnect the back seat, etc.. (youtube is ur friend).... It records and the pic is ok, but I cant get it to record on the back cam, even though I can see it (pic in pic) on the small screen. The instructions suck, so you have to figure out how to program it... and I’m still trying to. I’m leaving it in the truck due to ALL the sweat equity I put into it, but I wouldn’t buy it again. Don’t believe all the positive hyped up reviews. A used GoPro would be just as good and easier to use.
I’m sorry for the low score but Amazon doesn’t have a “yo I have an issue” button. This is the only way I can expect feedback mg apologies.
I read another user on feedback had a similar issue. The recording stops after a short period of time, maybe one hour total recording and will stop recording you can see visually the camera is on but not recording.
Yes. I’ve formatted on the camera and on the computer every format that can be done alone with Mac and PC formatting. Went as far as purchase another brand of memory card and still happens. So let me go into more detail I reset everything to default settings Don’t change anything and press record. About an hour in recording it will stop I have to reformat on the camera then re-record again to work.
I’ve bought a new card. Formatted in Mac and PC. Rebooted Swapped cards different brand
I just want it to record and loop as necessary. My investment was for reasons of other faulty drivers. Please a replacement unit or something and I’ll change my review.
Do not buy this product or any other Apeman product without insuring their manuals provide proper instruction on how to operate their product. Though it is fairly easy to install, the manual is cryptic and very minimal. The manual just tells u how to set it up without describing what the different settings mean. Nowhere are there instructions for what all the screen icons mean and why they blink or indicate what they are showing. Most importantly, there r no instructions whatsoever on how to download video should I have an accident! That’s the whole reason for my purchase of this product. Customer support thru the website is nonexistent. I’ve requested this basic info twice and have received nothing despite their banner that I would hear from them within a couple of hours. Without knowing this information, there is no sense in purchasing their product. I’m sure other companies provide proper and complete information about their product and their customer support is just that.
I purchased a C420D dual dash cam from Amazon, and the dash cam keep on turning off its self, I tried different SD cards with 16gb, 32 gb and I have Formated the cards many times including using the laptop, with no luck the apeman keep on turning it self off. I have two more apemans but the better versions with no problems, but this one is defective. I did contact apeman.
* Update I did contact Apeman, and after many weeks I received an Email regarding SD card issues. I tried everything but nothing works, the device turns its self off. I will contact Apeman one final time.
More garbage from overseas. Out of the box the battery never held more than a 5 minute charge and if you stopped recording and tried to restart, you get a "lack of space" error and the worst noise ever. Turn out that when one recording stopped, this trash from across the sea would corrupt the epmty space left on the card. You would have to navigate the terrible user interface to format the card. Rinse. Repeat. I wanted one because a friend got me into the "idiots in cars" subreddit and the results from some of the cams i see are tip-top, so there are good cameras out there. Just not here. Run far away. Amazon will sell and let anyone sell any old garbage. Obviously I returned it for a refund, but why sell stuff that does not work in the first place?
You have to go through menus with the buttons and learn on the fly to operate. CON: Have to keep reformatting when card full. I thought it would keep overwriting. Going from 32gb card to 64gb and when full have extra card to swap. New Review, camera not overwriting card! 32gb card need constant attention!! What is wrong? I was going to order two more units until this issue appeared.
I bought this Oct 17, 2020. Died Nov 24, 2020. I have only taken my personal car out 3 times where this camera is installed. Out of those 2 times the memory card keeps asking for a format. The last time was it just suddenly kept rebooting when plugged to power. Removing it from power the battery only lasts 5 mins and turns off. Tried changing the power cable as i thought it could be it but kept rebooting as well. Had high hopes due to almost 5star reviews but i guess i got a doozy. I will be returning it after an hour taking out the rear camera.
Upon connecting to my computer via USB the camera entered a reboot loop (see attached video)... returning it.
Pros: * Excellent picture quality, especially in adequate lightning conditions. * G sensor is a good feature, important footage won't get overridden. * Price!
Cons: * Battery doesn't last, but it's not meant to be used on battery, so who cares? * The sensor is a little small (physically) to perform to equal extent at night, the picture is grainy. * I tried the parking mode by pushing the car while parked a bit and it didn't activate the sensor, I suppose more sudden movement is required. Anyway, it's a lot of setup (ward-wiring).
