Transcends time... a love story like no other...
27 April 2019
I love Winter Renshaw’s work and this has got to be my favourite. A beautiful second chance love story of Lila and Thayer.
Thayer Ainsworth was born into wealth and is the apple of his granddad, Howard Bertram's eye. Lila Hilliard was raised by a single mother and goes to live with her grandparents after her mother's death who are employed by the Howard Bertram.
Despite warnings from his grandfather and the threat of being disinherited, Thayer can’t seem to stay away from Lila. They spend one glorious summer in secret together with a promise to reunite the following summer. However when Thayer returns from school Lila and her grandparents are gone... “The woman I love—the only woman I’ve ever loved and will ever love—is out there somewhere and I haven’t the slightest idea as to where she is, how to contact her …”
Thayer and Lila are a committed couple, even when they are apart. There are layers to these characters, a strength and a depth which I adored...
“I love her because there's no one else on this earth my soul longs to be with.”
The secrets that families keep, the sacrifices they make for each other makes this a wonderful, heart-warming yet heart-breaking read.
The story is told in parts - the past and present are told in a way that gradually unfolds the tale that is so much more than Lila and Thayer's love for each other.
The love they shared for one summer transcended through time. He never gave up looking for her. Thayer and Lila had a love story that can't be compared to any other. 5 + Stars...
