If you have read the Dirty books you have met Gabe already, however this duet could be read as a stand alone.
I have been intrigued by Gabe (Reid and Cat's brother) all through this Dirty Rich series, and I have been looking forward to his story.
Unfortunately, for me, anyway, His Demand fell a bit short for me. It felt like we went from first meetings to practically moving in with each other in 4.2 seconds.
Abbie annoyed me. She was so hot and cold with Gabe. All hot and bothered by him one second, running away from him the next. It was like they were in a rinse, lather and repeat cycle. I just wanted to yell at her to make up her darn mind. And if she didn't want Gabe, I would take him off her hands!
Gabe also felt like he has lost some of his hard-ass-ness, boooo. I want the take-no-crap gabe back.
But this could all just be me.
We are left on a bit of a cliffy with this one, however it is a LRJ duet, so that was expected when I started reading.
I look forward to seeing where Gabe and Abbie's story goes.
Abbie is angry, frustrated and fearful, her ex-husband is doing everything he can to hurt her and those she loves. She turns to a man experienced in dealing with complex situations. She knows that Reid and his brother Gabe are the best people she knows that are able to help. When Reid is away Gabes takes over and the chemistry between then is electric. The both carry scars and painful reminders of the past but his promise to win makes her uneasy, despite this she cannot say no to a future with him. This book ends dramatically with lots of unresolved questions to be answered in the second part of this duet. I was captivated reading this book. I loved the chemistry and erotic lovemaking between Abbie and Gabe, I loved the care and affection they both showed towards animals and I loved their growing commitment to each other, I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed this book.
Both Gabe & Abbie have secrets, both saying it would destroy the other if they knew, so the story revolves around this being brought up continually. Sometimes to the point it distracted me from the story. I knew it wouldn't be anywhere near resolved as it is a duet & it ends on a cliffhanger. Her ex is heap of s*+#, his associates none the better and in a way all there paths are entwined. So seriously I felt it going around in circles for awhile. Definitely angsty & hot! Another thing Gabe is a blonde whereas the cover depicts a darker haired character. I'm not nit picking but in a way you see the cover & imagine the characters. He is very strong & dominant but Abbie was a bit washy washy at times. Maybe due to her past. I hope it's all resolved in the next book & it all comes together. I do like suspense, intrigue, angst to some extent & some hotness & this delivered it all in spades but it was a bit drawn out at times. If you're a fan it won't disappoint.
