I saw this at my friend's house and immediately fell in love with the cat pictures. Added bonus, they're purrmaids! I also know Ravensburger to be a very good brand, so I decided to buy the game. I am super pleased with it. It's a simple game that's easy to get the hang of after a few rounds. It's sorta like a game of deception because you have to throw people off your scent of what cat and tail combo you have while simultaneously collecting that combo. May sound a little complicated but through gameplay, it was a quick pick-up. It's definitely a must for people who are as obsessed with cats as I am, haha. I think it may be a little hard for young kids? I don't have any kids around, so not totally sure. All the people who played it with me are late 20s and we had a blast!
My kids are obsessed with cats and anything cat related...kittycorns, purrmaids, unikitties, they love them all. So this game seemed purrrfect for them! It was easy to learn, the cards are iridescent and very pleasing to look at. Perhaps I’m missing something, but the overall strategy of the game seemed a little oversimplified and I’m not sure if it’s a game we are going to reach for over and over again. In addition, the number of points you get for collecting the pairs of cats/mermaid tails caps at 15, no matter how many you get. This can be kind of discouraging when you go to add them up at the end of the game and a bunch of your matches don’t count. I’m not sure why they designed it this way. Overall a cute and fairly fun game. Definitely exciting for cat/mermaid lovers.
Proof that not all Ravensburger games are created equal.... we became familiar with Ravensburger through their Disney villainous game, which we love. Hoping that Catlantis would be a more kid friendly experience... we went ahead and bought it... only to find it was clearly style over substance :/ the cards and the box and the artwork are all stunning... the game will annoy the crap out of any truly strategic adult or child. The scoring is also hard for children to grasp.
My 7 year old daughter loves this game. She loves kittens and mermaids so it’s perfect for her. We’ve played several times and always had fun. We’ve played just the two of us and we played with my parents who are in their 60’s and it’s been fun every time. Easy to teach and easy to learn. Not a complicated game at all.
This is a fun game. 7yo daughter and 10 yo son loved it! The pics are super cute. The gems are thick paper cut outs with a shine to them and the mercat pieces are made of wood. The scoring can take a little time to do, but should get the hang of it the more we play. There is a scoring card too which helped a lot. Fun game to add to your collection!
This game is so cute and fun. the cards are iridescent. I believe this is super similar to trash pandas without the dice. It is a card tucking/stacking mechanic and its super easy to learn and fun to play.
