This book is a slow to medium burn RH. It includes lots of hair raising action in a gruesome world that I would last a day in.
The scary thing about Maya’s book is I could totally see this premise playing out in reality and it’s so well written that you can totally place yourself with characters. Even the “big bad” is believable and in a way that makes it utterly terrifying.
I’m not a fan usually of the zombie type characters (deemed rotters in the book) but I actually enjoyed the story so much and it was so well written that I found myself pulled along on this crazy ride. This is definitely not your average “zombie apocalypse book”
Damn what a debut, Maya Riley has done a fantastic job for her first book. The world building is great and gets you immersed in their world, the descriptions are spot in and had me really “seeing” what was happening and the surroundings. This story has a bit of everything from zombie apocalypse, a little angst, some magic, a kickass heroine, 4 hot guys and one adorable dog named Puppy. Blyss is a survivor, she is able to adapt and she can kicks ass. She is all alone and doesn’t trust easily but the guys show her that not everyone in this new world is evil. The guys Lincoln, Jonah, Adam and Matteo are 4 best friends who have stuck together since they were younger and wouldn’t leave each other even when the world turns to shit. They protect each other. I would say this is a slow/medium burn RH and I love the Blyss owns her feelings and doesn’t create drama by denying how she feels. I am dying to see what happens in the next book.
Yes, the guys are great and Blyss is a fabulous main female character but truly my heart belongs to Puppy. Who wouldn't love the dog who helps you not only fight genetically engineered zombies but also makes you laugh and gives you love. Blyss' men are also not your ordinary men either as they're made even more appealing by supporting each other despite some having what would be considered disabilities by others. But establishing a relationship with Blyss is affected not only by zombies but also others who were not affected by the Void Virus, and together they've got to solve the mystery of it all. Looking forward to the next book and learning more about Puppy. Also can't wait to re-read this one several times over. Highly recommend it!
Dystopian, zombies and reverse harem? Um, yes please! It's like The Passage had a baby with reverse harem And replaced vampires with zombies. A sassy and more than capable FMC, a gorgeous and fierce dog oh and 4 guys who all have issues and baggage. Pretty much the perfect combination in my opinion. I loved this book, fast paced and thoughtful yet sexy and great crackling tension too. Bring on more please!
This is a really interesting take on the classic ‘zombie’ storyline. Maya draws the reader into a new world where the fmc is fierce yet vulnerable and each guy in her harem is distinct. I can’t wait to see want happens next in this series!
