Here we have Reed & Billie taken out of their comfort zone to a location where they have no authority to pursue a kidnapping they personally witnessed. The local sheriff is obstructive but, as always, Reed prevails. Not a Dustin Stevens 5 star effort but, an easy read.
Billie and Reed have it all over the other detective novels I have been reading. They are so good together and Billie is so in tune with Reed that they are almost an extension of each other. Reed and Billie novels are ones that keep you on your toes and hold your interest from start to finish. I find it very hard to put the book down to do other obligations during my busy day. Keep those great stories coming, Reed and Billie!!
Reed and Billie are back…. I'm excited because Billie is back…lol she is such a loveable character.
This story had be gripped from the start, as I'm reading I'm thinking many times 'put it down and walk away, just do it' lol but I couldn't because even though I new bad stuff was coming I couldn't stop reading. I had to know what happened. Does the find Serena? Do they capture The Bear? Do Reed and Billie go back to Ohio? Do Reed and Billie get to be detectives again? So, so many questions had to be answered and the only way forward was to keep reading even through the mad stuff, you know the scenes you generally cover your face for during a horror movies…lol yes those ones but with this story I couldn't turn away I just couldn't this is how thrillingly addictive Dustin Stevens writing!
Talk about anxiety inducing, seriously.
I have to say what I love most about any of Dustin's books but especially this one is the information he packs into each story, his attention to detail and research it really brings the story more to life for me.
I absolutely love the relationship Reed and Billie have built up each book has brought them so much closer with such an awesomely tight bond.
The ending was AMAZING I loved Reeds indecision to race in or go for back-up it really made the story and I have to say I'm kinda hoping Reed and Billie eventually move to Warner or Muskogee near his parents they both really seemed to fit into the area, it felt right.
I cannot get enough of Reed and Billie, having read all of them twice now. When I heard The Bear was to be released, I re-read the previous books to reaquaint myself with what Reed and Billie had been through and how much they had progressed as a team. Love it, love it, love it. The action was paced extremely well from start to finish, and again, I couldn't put the book down until the final sentence was read. This series is a must for all suspense thriller readers to pick up.
