‘The Feel Good Factor’ by Lauren Blakely is the second book in her feel-good standalone romance series, “Lucky In Love”. The first book, which does not have to be read first, is ‘Best Laid Plans’ and I absolutely adore it. This is just as good ... it is a strangers to friends and roommates to lovers romance.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge Lauren Blakely fan and ‘The Feel Good Factor’ is Blakely’s sexiest romance, and that’s really saying something considering it was a bit of a slow burn—but, believe me when I tell you, when it burns it burns...
The instant chemistry between Derek and Perri was electric. Inked, bike riding, paramedic Derek was a bad boy with a heart of gold. Perri was strong, independent, confident and caring, with a weakness for tattooed, alpha bad boys. She was a sharp, funny, quick police officer who was ambitious and dedicated to her job and her community...
I absolutely adored Derek. He looks and talks like a bad boy, but also has a big, loving heart. And Perri is feisty, sarcastic, and tough, but also deep down wants to be swept off her feet. They are both so tempted, and yet so terrified. But their passion is off the charts and they are so good together.
“…we’re choosing this tonight—we’re choosing the feel-good factor and all its risks.”
Every character in this book will put a smile on your face. The relationships between family and friends is just one one of the many reasons I love reading Lauren’s books. This book is well-paced, funny, sweet, steamy, slightly angsty and was a pleasure to read... 5 Stars again Lauren...
Firstly, check out the hot hot hot cover - I am not usually one to even bother looking at covers, however he is so pretty, that I can't not look at him when he turns up on a book cover....
Oh, sorry, I got a little bit distracted there!
Ms Blakely has given us another sweet, sexy, lusty small town story.
Now, I have not yet read Best Laid Plans (so many books, so little time) however this did not make me like this book any less - and has made me move BLP up my reading list.
There is so much spark between Derek and Perri, that you just knew that things were going to be hot hot hot between then. I mean, you can't blame the girl for lusting over the tattooed hottie!
This is a light, but passionate story - and just the break I needed from the heartbreaking stories I have been reading lately. I love that there is no stupid miscommunications between our lovelies, and no drama just for drama's sake.
I love stories set in a small town, where it is like Cheers - everybody knows your name (and your business) - even though it is not so much fun when you live the small town life like I do hehehe.
It was great to watch Perri and Derek fight their feelings, even though everyone could see their attraction, and knew they would be great together before they even knew.
This story has left me smiling, and now I can't wait for Shaw and Vanessa's story.
This book lives up to its title. I felt very very good reading it and with its conclusion. I had all the feels - laughing, smirking, sad and elated. It was the full package. I even had some angst over their deadline looming and calling it quits to the practicing for the Kissing Contest. We all know who was going to win! 🔥 🥵 🔥
I was so ready to read more about this couple from their encounter in Best Laid Plans. Everything about the description of Derek was intriguing, especially his dirty mouth! There are so many parts to this book that I was happy with. Derek and Perri are hard working, smart people with demanding jobs that make them both respected in their community. The authenticity of how they first met, ended up as roomies, then their relationship was credible and convincing. I felt like I was one of their gang hanging out and bonding with them. That’s when you know you have completely fallen into a book and I didn’t want to leave. I can NOT wait for Vanessa and Shaw’s story. The tension already has me humming.
The Feel Good Factor by Lauren Blakely is the second book in her feel-good standalone romance series, Lucky In Love. The first book, which does not have to be read first, is Best Laid Plans. This is a strangers to friends and roommates to lovers romance. It has a strong female lead and a smooth talking bad boy with a heart of gold. The build up between these two is comical, hawt as heck, and absolutely combustible.
Perri has no desire for a relationship as she wants to focus on her career. She has goals after all and making sergeant surpasses even the needs of her libido...
Derek is in a new town to help his sister with her kids. As a paramedic he can work just about anywhere and he was done with relationships and the town he was in.When the most gorgeous cop he's ever seen pulls him over on his way into town he's grateful to get off with just a ticket but thanks to Perri's beauty and snark the ticket is the only thing he's getting off.
This book is well-paced, funny, sweet, steamy, slightly angsty and was a pleasure to read! Enjoy!
Lauren Blakely books are everything. Every single time when I read her stories I laugh, I cry but I always end the book with a smile on my face loving what I have just read. Perri & Derek had me with all the feels. The way they connected right from the start - which was unusual to say the least with how they met. I laughed at how they tried to hold back their attraction, all for the sake of being roommates. Their chemistry was explosive so I knew that their stand off couldn't last!! It was great catching up with Gabe & Arden, but after finishing this story I cannot wait for the next book. Even though all of Lauren's books can be read as standalones, there are some cross over stories as well. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
