To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
"Words that change minds" wasn't quite what I expected. Many books with such titles are shallow and provide a keyphrase or two with many illustrating anecdotes. WTCM doesn't lack for anectodes about the author, her clients and her students, but it provides a clear framework for understanding why people react the way they do, how you can meet them where they are, and what you can do to help change their minds.
But the book is much more than this. Many of the examples relate to interviewing people and understanding who would be good for a job or role, or how to help people negotiate a solutoin that is helpful to all.
The techniques discussed relate strongly to the persuasive approaches of Neurolinguistic Programming, and the understanding of people that is the main focus becomes the basis for "going to their bus stop" and taking the bus with them from there. That is working to match with they way the are and the way they think, where they are at, where they are comfortable. This is a very open, direct and honest approach in contrast with some other NLP techniques.
The basic approach is to form a profile of the people you ware dealing with, and charts (and a website for self-profiling) are provided to help with this. In fact, however the approach is one that could fairly easily be internalized and could be helpful beyond the workplace that is the focus of the book. Of the 14 patterns, six relate to motivation and eight relate to productivity.
I borrowed my copy through Kindle Unlimited, but this book is something that's worth being able to refer back to. I may just have to go back and buy a copy.
Bought this book as part of my NLP coaching qualification where language and how we communicate are so very important to understand. This is a really useful tool for any coach to use with practical examples and a process of assessing clients needs. Although the case studies do have quite a bit about influencing people through sales, it also gives advice on how to use the language patterns in various organisational areas, so can be adapted easily.
This book is one of my favourites on the influence of language, its simple to read and really helps you to understand aspects of yourself yourself and communicate in a way that can be received well by someone else.

while it seems mostly skewed toward business/corporate situations, the information can be applied to nearly anything you need to motivate people toward.
This is essentially a textbook on the LAB Profile, a powerful psychological tool based on Nerolinguistic Programming. Very useful if the reader is looking for help in business applications, eg in recruitment, management, marketing and sales,etc.
