Holy Moly this book is pure Sierra Simone, deep breath and jump!
A Lesson in Thorns has his own language, like the book, talk to the reader, when you suppose to have a break to get your bearings or spend the night reading because you can’t stop a minute. The book has this power, this feeling in contact with your hands like your heartbeat synchronised, and everything are connected to the evolution of the characters.
This sentimental book is filled with secrets that will consume you, the sexy twists will get your skin damp thinking with all the kink, there is no discrimination of colour or gender, dominants will rise, and subs will kneel, keep your mind open, religion can be trick, friendship will be forever.
Blood will be shed, with a good of me most intention and love.
Can’t wait to next instalment.
Impossible to give just 5 stars this book deserves the constellation!
We have 6 friends, Secrets, Legends, Betrayals, Filth, Lust, Love - you get everything here. Thornchapel is where everyone's lives are irrevocably changed forever.
I swear just when I think I can't love this author's work more she comes out with a book like this. It's like NOTHING I've ever read. I'm not even sure how to review it to be honest. It's the kind of book I know I'll be thinking about for days. Complex, exquisitely written, beautifully erotic and the perfect level of filth to make my dirty romance heart happy.
I will say to you go in blind. Don't read spoilers. Go in with an open mind. Go in with plenty of time because you will want to binge read this one. Time and responsibilities will cease to exist while you disappear into the world that is Thornchapel and all that entails...
Six children brought together over a summer vacation in the village of Thorncombe. A child’s whimsical wedding to two boys amidst the ruins of Thornchapel. * Auden * St.Sebastian * Proserpina (Poe)
A destiny that entwines them comes to fruition 12 years later. The unexplained disappearance of Poe’s mother 11 years prior and a mysterious letter in her mother’s handwriting gives Poe the final excuse to return to Thornchapel where she has longed to be.
A Lesson in Thorns is a poetic experience requiring time and concentration to fully appreciate the magic in these words. It reminded me of a pilot episode. It focuses heavily on all 6 children, now adults, providing us with flashes of their entangled childhood, their present lives and glimpses of the future, laying the foundation for their upcoming books.
This prelude was filled with mystery, unanswered questions, a supernatural prophecy and Sierra’s signature kink. I think the best is yet to come.
The story had me in knots. Sierra Simone is a master writer. Her words caress you; lure you in as you slowly descend down into the depths of sensual pleasures. It’s sinful, indulgent and seductive. But more than that, there are secrets hidden within each of the characters and within Thornchapel. There are repressed desires, hidden longings, and the call beckoning them all to heed its cries. There are whispers and murmurs twisting around the six friends and around us and we become tangled up in its grasp that escape may be impossible. Thornchapel will not give up its secrets so easily and once it begins, what will they find? What will it mean for them? They say you shouldn’t go looking for answers unless you want to find them. But the call is too strong and just like the friends, I cannot resist. The story is an absolute feast for the senses. I would give it more than five stars because it is like nothing I’ve read before and I crave more.
