White has done it again; her ability to weave a tale and completely draw the reader in just blows me away. Rules of Redemption kept me up until 4am on a work night, it is worth every bit of struggle that tomorrow will bring. White is a very strong author with an incredible amount of talent. Her work is engaging, vivid and unique. I love the characters, humans and aliens alike.
Kira, the MC, is full of secrets and pain; I absolute loved reading about her. And Jin - OMG, I feel like there’s going to be tears over this character at some point - he’s a very unique sidekick; brings levity to some of the darker aspects of the book. I cannot wait to see what happens with Graydon, he’s got the alpha male persona downpact without being overbearing and obnoxious.
Rules of Redemption is set in a period post war with characters who fought in that war, so expect some baggage and darker parts. However, overall I did not find it to be too heavy, the stunning backdrops described help bring an aspect of beauty and wander to some of the darker topics. There is a slight cliffhanger warning, but it’s not unexpected and sets the scene for the next book nicely.
I seem to have a weird relationship with space novels. I’m not a fan and yet I keep reading awesome novels that are set in space that go straight into my favourites folder, and Rules of Redemption was no different; I highly recommend.
Rules of Redemption is the first book I've read by T.A. White, and I really enjoyed reading this Sci-Fi story. I one-clicked it yesterday, started reading and basically didn't move until I had finished.
What did I love about this? EVERYTHING!! I loved the characters, I loved the story, I enjoyed the small ( very small ) glimpse of romance. As soon as I finished I went straight to Amazon to get book 2, not realising this was a recent release and THERE ISN'T a book 2 yet. So, while I'm eagerly awaiting more Kira, I'm about to dive straight into another series by this author.
Another kracking heroine on an unbelievable adventure. What a different sci-fi world this was. Thanks again for being an awesome author. I'm now conflicted on which MC is my favourite of Whites books! Do I want book 2 of this or book 5 of Eileen Travers to be the next book published?
