I read the 1st book of this series awhile ago and didn't realise it was in a series so while I was doing a reread I realised wow I missed these books so downloaded them and loved them. They are really twisted which I really like. Have to read in order otherwise you may miss something. I kind of wish the last book was out already. I recommend to all
Penelope is that author for me. Like a best friend forever. I never doubt her talent and I trust her completely that whatever she writes will be worth the pain, the angst, the love, the fall... This book is a masterpiece that couldn’t be more authentic, raw, different.
So many twists and turns in this series that are so unexpected but they play into the story seemlesly. You never know what to expect with Penelope but you're never disappointed. Damon was a difficult character to like in devil's night 1# but in 2# I have to say his story was unravelling and it made me so curious to know who the heck Winter was and how she was so important. Damon is such a broken and twisted man and you'd expect such a different reaction from the events and truths of this story. How does he unravel and come back together? Read the book. 5 stars because this whole series has just blown my mind and couldn't possibly get any better. Beautiful writing, excellent characters and a plot that just keeps on revealing! It's so nice to see the crew together and even better that they're all so heavily involved. I loved that even though their books are completed they still have so much to show and be revealed. Mystery and intrigue.
This book freacking hurt in the all the good places and I just can't seem to get enough. I knew Damon's story was going to be heart wrecking but I never thought in all the time I spent impatiently waiting for his story to come that the wrecking would be this damaging, this painful and this shattering. You would think that after reading Kai's story, there was no way you would want anything to do with Damon. His cruelty, psychopathic behavior and self destruction were horribly unimaginable but then you get a glimpse of the unlucky little boy he once was and that's it... You fall hard... You fall fast...? And you know there is no going back. This book is not made for people who are looking for sunshines and rainbows, this book is made for people who roar, people who aren't afraid to step out of their comfort zones and see sensuality in its sinful moments, hatred in its ugliest shape and love in its purest form.
Omg this book it was way more than I expected. I expected an amazing book as all her books are amazing but damm this book ahhhh I don’t know how to explain how it made me feel put it this way I finished it at 2am and then at work the next day I reread it all over again because I couldn’t get it out of my head. I loved the first two but I’ve alway had a soft spot for Damon and kill switch made me fall in love even more . If you haven’t read the series do it trust me you won’t regret it . I loved seeing the boys back in action and the girls cannot wait for Wills story Penelope you have written another 5+ star book another must read not that I expected any different . Now back to my Damon coma I go
Let me just.... catch my thoughts, because HOLY DAMN!!!!
I’m going to try and sound like a human being that knows how to use words the best I can while being thoroughly put through the grinder with this book.
I had a problem. I didn’t want to read this book because I knew, no matter how much I psyched myself up for this book, I wouldn’t be ready for the utter mind blow.
Penelope Douglas weaves magic into her words. The consistency with the characters throughout not only this book, but the whole series, is awe inspiring. The storyline never wavered. I was kept up till early mornings trying to figure out what was happening. I was always trying to decipher and get ahead, but finding out I was 10 steps behind.
Damon and Winter are a couple you battle to agree with. Do you want them together? How do they work? How can forgiveness work it’s way into their stubborn/cold hearts? You know what? Penelope Douglas put a finger to my lips and told me to shut the hell up and keep reading 😂 I’m still so amazed.
First of all if you haven’t read this series I suggest you do! I love the world we get immersed in when reading these books, this story is Damon and Winter’s and like the previous books it’s told in present and past tense which sounds confusing but it’s so well written that you don’t get lost when going back and forth! Damon’s story is interesting and compelling and one of my top reads of 2019!
This was a perfect addition to the Devil's Night series. It had everything I've come to expect from these books, topped with Damon awesomeness. Even when you want to hate him, you can't. He is a 5 star-hot antihero. This is a book that I'll definitely be rereading again and again. It was twisty and sexy and romantic and tied together perfectly with the previous books, developing these characters even more, as well as their stories. I can't wait for Will's book next.
