Honestly I’m a bit obsessed with all of Sarah Lark’s series (I think that’s a pseudonym though?). The previous series set in NZ was my favourite book series and I recommend it to so many people. I grew up in NZ and loved learning so much about my country’s settlement history. I looked up lots of facts afterwards and there was so much truth to everything! So well researched. All Lark’s novels (I’ve read them all haha) are true epics, and have strong bold heroines. While happy endings are often the outcome in the long run, there is much strife along the journey for Lark’s leading women in all her series. I’m just gutted I have to wait for book 2 now!
I "discovered" Sarah Lark in another series, also set in settlement days of New Zealand, and loved the story. As someone with a bachelors degree in New Zealand History, I was, and am, delighted to find that the author has done her homework - the historical research is an excellent underpinning to her fictional story line.
