Churned out to fast.
30 January 2019
The author is producing books too fast and the quality is suffering.
Every book ends in a dramatic cliffhanger and the next book starts with the reader being dumped in as though it was a new chapter not a new book. No prologue, no recap. It's the writing equivalent of no foreplay - just lets get to it.
I found myself having to go back and double check things to make sure it was clear. There were also occasions that it was difficult to work out which character was being talked about as they were both referee to as "she" for large passages. Was it Violet or was it Shera? This was just sloppy writing.
The author changed the name of the evil protagonist, in the first chapter she was called Valerie and then the rest of the book Victoria (Idun) it looks like the author initially was going to call her one name and either changed it or forgot. This is sloppy editing.
I really like this author, but she's churning penny dreadful's at the moment and I hope she returns to taking a little more time with quality control.
Oh and did I mention this one also ends with a much loathed cliffhanger?
