Renzo learnt early on that he had to be the harbour - the shelter, the safe harbour, people needed him, and they were counting on him. The decision to leave for Lucia it was an easy one, Renzo lit her on fire, even being next to him wasn’t close enough. She loved him enough to leave everything behind, as long as she was with him, where he went, she went, even if he didn’t always believe it. When Renzo’s mother threatened to take Diego, he had no choice but to leave and as far away from there as he could and let Diego think they were playing hide and seek. Even though Renzo was going to have to do some jobs to pay back what they got from his friend and what they would need, they were happy together, but Lucia knew with everything being fine it could be the calm before the storm. Having to run again they head to the only place left that Renzo knows and things start to work out for them and it was quiet, but that gave Lucia time to think, if only she could explain to her father that she was happy, and where she wanted to be, she wanted to live her life. Their happiness is short lived, Renzo tries to convince Lucia that they need to leave or her and Diego need to go, but Lucia is firm they’re not going, you go, I go it was there thing. He knew he couldn’t change her mind but what happens when their time is up, and Lucia’s family finds them, will she be able to convince them to leave them alone, or will they finally break them apart. Can’t wait for the next book.
As always Bethany doesn't disappoint, one of the best writes out there! She makes you feel, live every scene as its unfolding in front of you. This is the second installement without giving too much away its a beautiful unfolding of renzo and lucia on the run trying to find there way with so much events on the way that leaves you with "did that really just happened"!. I love how much love and how deep he loves and takes responsibly for his younger brother and lucia the love of his life! Bext installment will be a blast!
