I absolutely love Winter Renshaw’s writing. Her characters are unique but real. Her romances are sweet but intense and her dialogue is easy and flawless. Everything about ‘Pricked’ meets all those criteria and is just wonderful. From the broken characters of Brighton and Madden, to the journey of self discovery they both take, to the overall theme of love whatever side of the tracks you are from.
This is the story of Brighton Karrington she’s from a wealthy family and she’s been very sheltered her entire life rather than the woman she is. This is due to “ The Incident “ that happened over 10 years ago. Which we find out about later in the book. Brighton meets Madden Ransom when she gives herself something to try and break the hold her parents have over her....a tattoo hidden of course and Madden is the owner of the shop and her tattoo artist...
Brighton and Madden couldn't be more different and desperate, but that doesn't quell the intense chemistry they both feel. They're determined to keep their hearts and lives unentangled, but fate has far different plans for them.
The writing is brilliant, moving, deeply emotional, and vibrantly fulfilling. The story of the butterfly and net was truly breathtaking, and it is exquisitely woven throughout the entire story. Theirs is a fiery, hot romance stunted by the tragic losses in their pasts which makes it all the more beautiful. 5 Stars.
