I was told to read this by a friend so I bought it without even reading the blurb. And I am glad I did! There were no spoilers and I had no idea what this book was about until I dove right in. And it was amazing!!! Start to finish this book had me absolutely hooked. I am not usually one for Australian novels as I often find them a bit weird. Especially because I know the landmarks etc. But Donna Alam nailed this and I am definitely getting the rest. Who doesn't love a hot dad and a naughty teacher?! If you nodded or smiled then this book is for you. Throw in a bit of aussie slang and you have a cracker of a book.
The first thing to notice about Donna Allam's "Down Under" is the perfection of the front cover, showing a very hot Aussie model, Chad Hurst, adorned with an iconic Bonds white singlet in the style of the bronzed Aussie surfer! If that's not a recommendation to read this book, you must be hard to please (sorry, not sorry). I loved this tale of Amber, an older-than-expected "back-packer" seeking work on a farm, who beguiles the grandmother into hiring her as Nanny to her 4year old twin grandchildren. Her son Byron is widowed & battling to raise his children while managing the family business of growing grapes & making wine. She's a former teacher and he's totally overwhelmed especially since they previously met... No more hints - it's a really good read, so grab a copy & get comfortable... Down Under is worth it.
I received a copy of this book and I voluntarily leave my review. I’m a big fan of Donna Alam and her stories she is a fantastic author very clever with this Australian accent she has going on, being Australian myself she has hit the accent down pat and this is an amazing story. Amber is a teacher she’s taking time off to travel the world and near her 30th birthday she ends up in Australia, she wants some birthday fun just for the night and she ends up being with this gorgeous Australian man. Amber ends up working as a nanny for twins and when their father comes home Amber gets the shock of her life it’s Byron the man she had a one night stand with, and what ensues is laughter I loved the twins and their grandma it was so funny they were my favourite characters and I also loved the sizzling chemistry between Amber and Byron a very believable story I loved it. It’s a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
OMG! I freakin love you Donna Alam! This the first Donna Alam book that I have read and needless to say I am in love with her quirky, whitty, funny and hot writing! The way each name of the Philips boys were bestowed on them by their parents are freakin hilarious!
So Byron is definitely swoon-worthy and what's not to love in a man who is besotted to his kids and loves his momma so much. Amber, true to being a bluey is fiery but at the same time excudes such sweetness that she balances the angst that Byron gives out. What would I give to have the same adventures as she had!
Now I so want to read the rest of the Philips boys adventures! Perhaps a trip to Hunter Valley will be in order soon...wonder if there are any jobs on offer!
