This was my first Lucy Score book and I am now a massive fan.
Carter Pierce has returned to his family farm in the wonderfully quirky small town of Blue Moon Bend after his tour in Afghanistan with scars, his only goal is recovery. Blue Moon Bend, where everybody is a matchmaker, Carter wants to be left alone to tend the family farm.
Summer Lentz is a journalist and very much a city girl is sent to interview Carter and his family. She sticks out in the small town, with her designer wardrobe and workaholic lifestyle.
Summer has secrets of her own, that she planned to take to the grave, but as she gets drawn into the crazy Blue Moon Bend community, she starts to realize that she wants more out of life. Could a farm boy learn to love a city girl?
This book has all the feels and is such a beautifully told story. I fell in love with the characters immediately and was laughing and crying a long with them.
Overall, this was a warm, sweetly told narrative with challenges, dramas and a smattering of humour. It also had well-developed and attractive characters who were easy to relate to. I have read Lucy Score's publications before and had no hesitation in downloading this one. Criticisms: (going out on a limb here after reading other reviewers) I thought the first 35%, or so was on the slow side and had patched scenes. This was mainly because there were a lot of characters introduced, who were associated with the farm; all with their own issues and backstories. This included the two main characters, Carter and Summer, of course. In addition, the setting and Blue Moon's minor characters all needed explanations, too. Hence, the frustrating, staggered effect and every time the story hit it's rythm, the plot would be redirected again. No doubt, all this information was essential in setting up the series, but it took away from this book. I have to admit, despite my interest, I thought about aborting several times (that's why I gave it only 4 stars.) However, it geared up after this point and took readers on a journey where Carter and Summer's story was woven with skill and intimacy. Despite coming from different worlds, they were simply made for each. The majority of the narrative was engaging to read and their stories (secrets) unfolded, while their lust for each other developed into love.
This series will make you fall in love with the idea of small town living. I bought this and then immediately bought the rest straight after. This book follows the hilarious journey of pain, love and hope for both Summer and Carter after previous issues from the past haunt their current lives. Once they move that aside, wow, the heat could sizzle sausages. Love this book and this series. 10/10 for sure
Just fell in love with Carter, Summer and all of Blue moon. Love how big Carter's heart is and how he embraces everything in life. Lucy has made me fall im love with another small town. Looking forward to exploring Blue moon and the Pierce families lives.
Great Book and fantastic story. I nearly cried in parts. That is how much the book made me feel while reading. I loved the interaction between the brothers and how real their relationship felt. I can't wait to read the rest of this series Lucy, this first one was brilliant
Where can i find 1 of these farmers, wonderfully written captures the reader from the start to the finish, from laughing to crying to smiling again. This book will definitely be a must read for all. Loved how i had no idea what was wrong with summer till the end. Loved it
This was funny, cute and sexy and I highly recommend this story. In this first book of a new series we have three brothers who each need to find love in their own way and for different reasons. They have had their parents example of what a true marriage is and I believe nothing but the same will do for them. I liked both Carter and Summer and the slow but sincere way their relationship developed was perfect, even with both of them not being quite honest with the other. I guessed pretty early on what was wrong with Summer but I did love how it all came out into the open. Ms Score has the ability to have me laughing and crying when reading her books. All of the characters we meet are interesting and quirky as well as entertaining. I would love to know a town like Blue Moon and that crazy goat, hilarious.
This was a lovely romance read. I really liked the hero and the heroine and their journey to falling in love. Both characters were strong, relateable people. I am definitely looking forward to reading more about the town of Blue Moon and the Pierce brothers!
