For lovers of Heather's original Slapshot series, this is the first book in the Minor League Mayhem series which centres around the younger hockey players. Jack has just been drafted to play for the Irvine Mayhem's with his best friend, Alec. Lily, Alec's sister, is gearing up to start College in the coming weeks. Jack's a typical 19 year old, passionate and hot headed. Due to his own awful homelife, Alec and Lily are like family to him, though there's nothing sisterly about how he feels about Lily. Lily is a strong young woman who has plans for her life and knows her own mind. And she knows she shouldn't be thinking about Jack the way she is. I love this kind of brother's best friend trope, with dual POV. It was probably a little more violent than I'm comfortable with but then again it fits with the age of the characters and their back stories and I can see the maturity that these characters will grow into and I think that makes them even more appealing. Great read - I really enjoyed this one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jack Ruby had a hard time growing up but it made him the fighter that he is and it also gave him his best friend Alec Sinclair and Alec's sister Lily. Their home became his a lot of the time but now with Lilly at university and him and Alec living with her while they play for the Newport each Sea-eagles hockey team things are starting to look up. The only thing is he loves Lily and always has now when her Ex is giving her hard time he will protect her at whatever cost. This is a sweet romance maybe their youth sets the tone but as with all Heather C Myers hockey books there is plenty of humour as well
I was given a copy of this book but this is true and honest review
