Drifter, book #3 in Commander in Briefs series, was a fantastic read. It was a touching love story that started with a bang! The first chapter was mind-blowingly funny and I just knew that I was going to love this story. Bianca meets Connor in a club and drugs him to steal his motorbike. She’s seen his bike and she assumes he has a charmed life. The truth is that this bike is his only possession in the world. Using his resources, he tracks her down, and blackmails her. He demands that she gives him back a bike or he’ll turn her in to the authorities. One the surface they’re complete opposites, but these two have more in common than they could possibly ever know. They’ve both got demons and they’re both survivors. He’s been lucky enough to have been given a fresh start, to find a family and home, somewhere to belong. Being a former military man, he’s struggled with the transition of bring a civilian without the structure and rules of military. He’s a man searching for meaning in his life after he has lost everything. Bianca desperately needs a fresh start. She needs someone to believe in her, someone to love her, and she needs to love herself. Slowly Conner builds her up and makes her believe she’s as strong as he knows she is even as she repeatedly pushes him away.
We’ve had so many other Hayes moments leading up to this book... but in this, we see a different side of Hayes. The romantic and the sweet guy he is!!!
Drifter gives us in the beginning how Bianca and Connor tried to out smart the other. The progress of this story was great and you see clearly through Bianca’s eyes how great and big Connor Hayes’ heart really is.
Bianca also, seems to be a sweetheart under all the toughness vibes she gives out!!! Getting a glimpse into the marines’ family dynamic was also fun - you really can’t help but love these guys.
I really enjoyed the change Connor’s book took. Drifter because it was such a different dynamic to the other ones of this series... the main characters had the most interesting first meet and their interactions throughout their story. This was so much more than the normal hero saves his girl or heroine saves her man!!! Wickedly sweet because they were more than the hard exteriors and playful humours! It’s what makes this book beautiful to me!!
Loving this series so far!!! It is one of my favourite series. Pick up your copy of Drifter and have at it... I love Kristy and I can tell she took a different route for Hayes and tested the waters out there... she did fantastic anyway!!
ONE CLICK!!! And check out the 2 previous books if you haven’t!!!
Volunteered for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review - so here you go!!!
The big hearted, totally inappropriate, emotionally scarred, pretty boy and self confessed ladies man CONNOR HAYES may have finally met his match with the feisty, jaded, man hating Bianca. Don’t try to hustle a hustler. These two need to learn to leave the past behind, believe in yourself and trust in one another. As with the first two books in the Commander in Briefs series we are back in Madison with the Foundation Family. I love the banter between all the different characters, the inappropriate jokes and comments and especially the unconditional love freely given. This book has it all deceit, blackmail, crazy chemistry, a lot of laughs and a slow burn undeniable love. Love this series, really enjoyed this book.
Drifter meets Marine absolutely loved it! So l have been waiting for Hayes story, l think this may be my favorite so far! Don't get me wrong l love the first two books! Still love the banter between the guys! Hayes & Bianca are breathtakingly beautiful together, both hurting and coming through at the end! Which marine will be next Kristy!
I was generously given an advance reading copy by Kristy Marie and in return I will be giving my honest review.
Now I have read the first two books in the Commander in Briefs Series and loved them both so much, that when Drifter was announced I had high expectations for it. I am so extremely happy to say that it exceeded those expectations and more. Kristy Marie delievered another beautifully written story that truly captivated me and reminded me why I love this series so much.
This story isn't your typical marine romance, where heroine saves hero from the darkness and shows him the light. This story follows two drifters who are both guilt ridden because of their past. One hides behind laughter and jokes and another behind the wheel of a car. This is what sets them a part from the others in its genre, because it's not focused on one person's struggle, but both.
Hayes who came from a life of love, to lose it and is now starting to find it again in the foundation, and Bianca who believes she doesn't deserve love at all. Their story is one of bumpy roads and sharp turns, but this story goes deeper than just the love story - it delivers a stronger message which is that sometimes it takes an army of people to help you get through lifes hardships.
"I stole his bike. In retaliation, he stole my heart"
Hayes has always been a favourite of mine since reading Gorgeous (second book) and I was looking forward to hearing his story, because the funny guy always has the saddest. After reading about his heartbreaking past, it was endearing to see how the men and woman at the McCallister - Jameson Foundation, helped him find his strength. This strength is what helped Bianca.
"She's a rebel. A hustler. A theif. And EXACTLY my flavour."
Bianca, I'm not going to lie, was not my favourite person at the beginning of this book - I saw her as selfish and arrogant. But after reading her story, I could see that this was her way of protecting herself. Just like Hayes the members of McCallister - Jameson foundation, helped her open her eyes to see she was not alone. Therefore accepting the strength of Hayes and her own flaws.
“What he’s trying to say, sugar, is ‘show us what you got.’”
I 100% would reccomend reading not only Drifter but the rest of the series too - they're all more than just about the love stories. Pick them up and you'll see for yourself why Drifter was one of my most anticipated reads of 2019 and why Commander in Briefs is one of my favourite series.
