The fourth instalment of the Bootleg Springs series, Bourbon Bliss, focuses on June Tucker, big sister to Cassidy featured in Book 3.
This story will take you directly to swoonville. I feel I have used the word swoon to describe every Bootleg Springs book but Bourbon Bliss takes the gold medal.
June has fast become one of my favourite book heroines. The beautiful way the author has created a loveable and real woman who doesn’t fit the normal leading lady stereotype is to be commended. I adored being in June’s mind as we see her interact with her family and friends and get to experience her falling for George.
And George is such a thoughtful and romantic leading man you can’t help but understand why June falls hard and fast for him. I really enjoyed his character and progression in the story. I loved his ability to understand, appreciate and encourage June’s quirks.
Their first dance is one of the most romantic scenes I have ever read - “Don’t think. Just feel”.
The other relationship I really enjoyed in this book was between the sisters June & Cassidy. You can see just how fiercely Cassidy loves and protects June without wanting or expecting her to change.
There is more action in the disappearance of Callie Kendall and though it doesn’t feature as prominently as in the previous book there are now more questions then answers in the mystery.
I highly recommend this book and whilst it can be read as a stand-alone romance you will get much more from the story by reading the first three in the series.
I really enjoyed the continuation of the mystery involving the disappearance of Callie that continues throughout Bourbon Bliss - the fourth book in this series ( need to be read in order ). The ongoing investigation took an unexpected turn, with June determined to discover the truth and sets herself the task of investigating what really happened. It was a great way to extend the mystery into the next book.
I love reading books with quirky characters, and June is most definitely quirky. She is super smart and extremely literal. I loved how George just gets June - he understood her personality and quirks so well. It was so sweet how he went about explaining different emotions/interactions to her in a way she could understand.
Also lots of my other favourite family - all of the Bodine's. They get up to their usual mischief and hilarity. Can't wait to see what happens next in book 5.
Bootleg Springs is a series I eagerly await a new installment of, and this one did not disappoint. The underlying mystery of Callie and the little breadcrumbs dropped hinting to previous and future relationships are intriguing, and helps tie all the stories together. However each story is focused on the couples and their journey to a HEA. June and George are a brilliant pairing! June's unique outlook is both engaging and entertaining. George's ability to roll with it, be loving and accepting is refreshing. The quirky town with Mona Lisa walking the streets and Bootleg Justice just add to all the things to love.
I enjoyed this story by Claire Kingsley and Lucy Score it's book 4 in a series, and I've not read any of the others. It was a stand alone sort of, there was an underlying ongoing mystery that to be honest I was skimming because it wasn't relevant to my reading experience but I guess if you were reading this series in order it would be relevant. The first 70% was really enjoyable but then that ongoing mystery popped to the fore along with a relevant to this story one, I'm not into suspense and mystery so I skimmed wanting to get to the HEA.
I love the quirkiness of June. She was such a unique character. It was wonderful to see her story come to life in Bourbon Bliss and we got to know more about her. I love that she got with GT and he loved her quirkiness. These two were a breath of fresh air. He was such a sweetheart and he just got her. I love this little town and the characters are fabulous, you will fall in love with all of them. Jonah gets his story next and with this plus the continuing saga of the missing girl Callie we are certainly in for a real treat.
Loved this. Bourbon Bliss is a heartwarming and funny small town romance. June and George are amazing. Unforgettable characters that you just can't help but love. I only wished I had read the previous books in the series first but I am going back to start at book 1 now. Highly recommend.
Thankyou Claire & Lucy for another fantastic book in the Bootleg Springs series. This is definitely one of my favourites! June & George's story was so much fun to read. Can't get enough but just gonna have to, cause you haven't written the next one yet.
I just love this series - I find myself reading with a smile on my face. If you are a fan of Claire and Lucy you won’t need any convincing to read this latest in the series. If you are a newcomer to either author - lucky you, you have many hours of great storytelling ahead
I love this town. You become so captivated with Bootleg and all the characters, you feel like you’re a part of it. Bootleg justice definitely prevailed in this book and so far it’s my favourite in the series. (Excluding the first, because Scarlett is just the best!) I really want to read Gibson’s story so I’m hoping he might be next? I have a theory about him...
