A checklist to prepare yourself for reading this book! -Tissues, and plenty of them. Trust me you are going to need them. -A ready supply of Wine (or your preferred alcoholic drink), or something comforting like hot cocoa. -A comfortable, quiet place to sit, and maybe a soft blanket and a cushion or two- because you are going to be there for a while as you won’t want to put this book down once you start. -A friend on standby to call as you may need someone to talk to about the emotional battering you (will) receive.
….Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
The Light At Dawn by K.L Montgomery is a powerful, thought-provoking, heartbreaking, and incredibly emotive story that I am still thinking about long after finishing it. This is my favourite read of Ms. Montgomery’s- and ok, I know I say that about each new release she makes- but seriously- this book really is the top of the pile- it deserves wayyyyyy more than 5 stars!!! Truly it does! I am at a loss to do this book the justice it deserves, without giving away any spoilers. You will understand my dilemma, once you start reading. Ms. Montgomery has managed to capture so much emotion in these pages, writing a deeply moving story that embodies her passion, creativity, blood, sweat, and tears. The attention to detail, and masterful, descriptive touches really brought the characters and story to life. Yes, there is a lot of pain, despair, and heartache here- but was brilliantly balanced by the purpose, passion, and hope that is threaded through the storyline. Some parts are not easy to read- but it is worth every heartache and tear! Bravissimo!!!
The Light at the Dawn by K. L. Montgomery is an emotional, heart wrenching story, that follows two parents that have lost their children due to suicide. The book explores darker themes, discussing sensitive material that may be upsetting to certain readers. But the book does a beautiful job of handling such a sensitive issue with utmost care and support. Montgomery does a masterful job of weaving two stories into one, with evocative writing that will not only have you crying like a baby, but leave you permanently impacted. It is a beautiful tale of heartbreak and strength, and the effects of how deeply people impact your life. I really really enjoyed this book, despite how much I cried whilst reading it. But it is brutally honest and eye opening to see how these two characters handle their grief, and how they try to keep moving forward, when they’ve lost so much. I highly recommend this book to everyone, as well as encourage everyone dealing with mental health issues to seek help. It ain’t weak to speak. 5/5 stars!
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is amazing. It is one heartbreaking, soul crushing and heart stoppingly story. DO NOT and I repeat, do not read this book at work because you will do nothing but howl all the way through. Yes, I got strange looks. I have read a lot of K.L. books but this is the first I have read in this genre from her and it is a wonderful and tragic story where the main characters lives become intertwined after each has suffered from the most horrible thing a parent should go through. K.L. has excelled herself in this book. I’m not sure what I expected, but this is so much more. This is one story that will pull on your heartstrings and you can not put down. I loved and hated every single thing and read it in one sitting. I was mesmerized and captivated, enthralled and so engrossed that by the time I had finished, I was an emotional wreck. This story is such an emotional rollercoaster ride of feelings that don’t let up. Even now days later I am still thinking about this raw and confronting story and it still brings tears to my eyes.
